hello , good to finally find people who have the same as me.
when i tell others what my condition is , they've never heard of it.
i also feel that family, friend and work coleages think theres basically nothing wrong with me .
i work on the rigs in the catering crew , i work 21 days in a row 12 hours on 12 hours off , on my feet most of the time .
its a struggle but i have bills to pay.
my worry is having an accident while out there if my legs give way or if my hands aren't working properly.
i've tried several meds but none have helped , some making me feel worse.
my neurologist , said i just have to deal with it , lovely woman , NOT !

You need to see a different neurologist !!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been going to a neurologist who specializes in neuropathic pain !
My pain is my feet and toes !
My neurologist prescribed HORIZANT !
It has really helped in lowering my pain level !!
I go back to have an E M G done !
I'll let everyone know the results !!

It's a wonder your bosses have not noticed you disabilities as a rig has so many safety tests for workers.

Hi Calum,
I know how you feel mate, horrific pain and excruciating desperation is all consuming. I have had two brain surgeries (DBS) and was extremely hopeful, even excited at the time, but both were unsuccessful. and I'm now awaiting surgery on my spine.
You should, at the very least be referred to the pain management clinic. You need to pester your personal doctor because a specialist may be able to help you, with pain management
as a minimum outcome.
Please keep me informed Calum, and if you just need a chat I will attempt to help with anything you need.
Regards,
Wayne

thanks wayne , yea i do get down coz my body doesn't work , frustrated and at times, a little scared at what the future holds.
my legs are like they have weights tied to them and dexterity in my hands is poor and my grip is unpredictable.
also get spasims in my legs with shooting pain sometimes along with the pins and needles in hands and feet !
i just wish my nearest and dearest realised how awful it can be .

What symptoms are you suffering from? Do you experience tingling, pain, numbness, along with muscle weakness? Unfortunately there is nothing you can do with neuropathy because a lot of these meds either don't work or cause nasty side effects.

yes pippa, all of those symptoms and i have tried a few different meds but none have helped , im in the position where i need to leave my job but need domething else non physical that will pay the bills, but as my wife suffers with bad depression cant confide in her as it just stresses her out .
not sure where i go from here , very worrying and always a game of chance at work that i may have an accident.

Perhaps ask your employer to make reasonable adjustments for you. Maybe, there are other less strenuous jobs you can do on the rig? Have you spoken to your boss about the extent of your disability?

hi , they have made certain adjustments for me but it is constantly under threat as they want to rotate staff in different areas,to be honest they don't really care ,
