Hello mimijean, and welcome to the club.

I also had a TIA, but a couple of years ago. This blasted PMR started at the beginning of this year for me.

I take so many tablets that I should rattle, when I can move, LOL .

There are quite a few of us in your world on here. I pop in now and then, just to see what's happening with everyone. It is an invaluable place to let off steam or just leave a note about your experiences and compare them with others in similar situations.

Hope your med's soon get you on the road to recovery.

    Best wishes, DD

Sorry to see another first post, but you found a good site for information, moaning and asking the daft questions.

However as you are new to PMR can I suggest you 'take a trip' to www.pmr.gca-northeast.org.uk a website run by a new Charity called PMR-GCA UK. the website is run by the North East Region Support Groups.

There is a wealth of information on that site and also medical information issued by the BSR Junee 2009 on PMR.

Good Luck and hope you have many better days than ones you want to forget.

    Hi Mimijean,

I'm a 'newbie' like you and have really been lifted by the lovely words of

encouragement on this site. I'm still on the 'is it, isn't it PMR' road to discovery, so I hope your positive diagnoses will help you to find just the right medication for you. I take blood pressure and cholesterol medication but my Consultant wasn't unduly concerned about this. I've decided that I'm only going to worry when she looks worried  Head in the clouds approach perhaps, but it's working for me! Do so hope you get sorted soon and get as much support from this site as I do. Take care - Lizzie Ellen. smile

    Hi Lizzie Ellen,

When I was in Athens in April 2005, I felt queer and luckily I chose to climb the Acropolis in the middle of my stay and in the morning. I made it even if I felt tired afterwards. Some weeks after that visit I started visiting my doctor as I had a dry cough and couldn´t get rid of it. After very many tests, I was diagnosed with pmr in the middle of June that year. I never had it so bad. I started on 20 mg in June 2005 and since the middle of December last year, I am free from Pred and feel fine except that I still am a bit tired at long walks, especially uphill - but I am 72, so age probably also influences my well-being.

As you see, it is possible to get rid of the Pred even if it takes time. But don´t try to reduce too fast!

    Best wishes

    Ragnar
