Hello everyone has anyone had ablation procedure

Posted , 4 users are following.

I'm 35 and have A-fib for the past two years. Tachycardia before that. I have prosthetic mitral valve. I have taken amiodarone, atenolol and now on bisoprolol and dronedarone. I asked about ablation My doctor told me it wont work and to learn to live with it. But there are days I can't sleep or eat. It's disrupting my life besides making me ill.

Thanks for listening

Hi. Your life sounds horrible, you should read all the posts on peoples ablations.. Maybe it would be a good idea to get another doctor ? They say ablation wont work for me, after they said it would, I really thinkk they dont know much about the heart problems - -  good luck . .  jay

      Hi Jay

I have passed out a few times too, its true sometimes I feel like no one really knows even though I have respect for cardiologists. I am getting a second opnion because I did not walk away from my consultation with certainty.

      Take care smile

hello ana..Sorry to hear how your feeling at the moment.it was a wee bit harsh for your doctor to to tell you to live with it.Obviously you have worries and concerns and these are interferring with your sleep and life in general.was it your doctor or consultant who said it would'nt work.If it was your doctor then ask to speak to a consutant.they specialize in this field and will spend more time listening to you and expaining what you need to know..I've not been a member of this forum for long but going by what I've seen when your having a bad day or night just come on and put it out there..there will always be somebody ready to give you their support..Hope this helps a little

      hello alan

thankyou for your kind words.  It was a cardiologist that I saw, I used to see someone else but she has left. He listened but he made everything look bleak.  I have never been one to complain about my health and I put up with a lot before I seek help.  Only when I get desperate and need it.  He made me feel like a complainer.  He has put me on another medication that I have had before but it never worked.  I feel like a medicine dispenser sometimes.

I am a positive person have had heart problems since birth and sometimes a doctor can disrespect that.  Just because I won't die does not mean I should not be taken seriously.

      thanks again smile

hello again anna. You should never put up with anything before seeking help and no one should make you feel like a complainer. If the medication did'nt work before tell him.some doctors seem to prescribe the same meds to everyone but as everyone here knows, what works for one does not mean it works for another.Ask about different meds and as GotAbitBetter[like the name]said..get a second opinion.Stay positive and make them take you seriously..all the best

Hello alan, thankyou its nice to feel supported and understood.  I have always tolerated my heart condition and never been one to complain, on the contrary.  Doctors do not realize we are all different.  I am learning to cope with this more for my sake.  Its just daunting when you are told how you should and should not feel about something someone else is only qualified in.  Experience is what counts it should be a two way street. And I will perservere but not let it consume me.  Thankyou smile

Hi Ana, Having gone through weeks and months of being unwell I totally sympathise. I got to the point of being frightened to go to sleep in case I had an attack which wouldn't stop. Is it your GP or your Consultant who has said an ablation won't work? It may be because of your valve that they're saying this, but like the other responders, I'd definitely ask for a second opinion under Patient Choice and make the effort to be seen by a specialist at a hospital who do a lot of cardiac work.

I know it's not easy to get get the energy to do this when you're not feeling well but do try, you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

    Best wishes

      Hi gotabitbetter

I hope your name fits today! Yes I know what you mean and I lie down with three pillows. I do have good moments compared to bad but it is very physically tiring.  I can't even lift a kettle.  I am usually self reliant and I feel worried that my loved ones have to do things for me that are so simple. I know you are right and I do try.

      Take care

Hi I had cardio version and ablation in January. Afterwards I felt better as soon as I woke up and I noticed a difference in my heart beats. No pain or discomfort. Don't let any one tell you to live with it. AF I horrible. I am very lucky my cardiologist is fantastic. Ask for a second opinion.
