Hello fellow scratchers,

I've been scratching every night since sometime in 1990. I can't beleive it's been that long, but sadly it has. I have tried every ointment, pad, liquid, gel, you name it....still itchy bottom. I'm searching the internet today for some miracle cure because I kept my wife up last night. I was tortured! Tossed and turned, trying to do everyting possible NOT TO SCRATCH! I just can't go one night without digging, tearing, and ripping. I've considered tying my hands to the bedpost, but don't think I'd get any sleep. At least if I scratch I eventually fall asleep. I thought I learned to live with this problem, but the last couple weeks have been almost unbearable. Nothing seems to help. I truly believe it's a diet issue, but I don't know where to start. I mean, my behind is so torn it's going to take weeks to heal. No point to my story, just nice to vent to others who experience the same misery. :headhurts::ill:sad

I think you are absolutely right to notice a link between diet and itching. Also between itching and stress.

Diet-wise ~ candida can cause all kinds of itching in warm moist areas and can get really chronic in the gut leading to fatigue, depression etc. but the first sign might just be an itching that won't go away. Also conditions such as athlete's foot.

Two years ago I became really uncomfortably itchy. Feeling desperate I picked up a random book in a bookshop which had a quiz in it. This showed me I probably had candida.

\"Beat Candida Through Diet: A Complete Dietary Programme for Sufferers of Candidiasis \"by Gill Jacobs and Michelle Berriedale-Johnson

I completely changed my diet following the book's recommendations to the letter. It was pretty extreme but I felt so awful so was willing to do it.

The key aspects of the diet that I think did it was stopping wheat and coffees/teas and alcohol (although I'm not a beer drinker, beer would, I imagine, be a real contended because of the yeast ~ sorry).

I've slowly gone back to my old eating habits and with it got a new bout of itching so it could be time to cut down on the coffees and toxins and get more veg into my diet again.
