Hi, Ive been lurking reading posts on this board, but now think its time to contribute and say introduce myself and hello.

I have had hidradentis Supportiva on my underarms for what will approaching 10 years soon. I am 23 years old. The condition has progressivly got worst over time, although I think its the milder form of the disease. I have been misdiagnosed severla times, been given treatment which made it worst. I am able to shave but not regularly and cant use any deodarants on there, I use Trimovate cream which soothes the skin ans also seems to prevent any body odour. I wash using dermol 500/Demol 200 which prevents my skin from flaring. Im currently taking Roaccutane and am noticing a slight difference it seems to have calmed the condition down a bit.

One of my underarms is worst than the other, theres alot of scarring on my left one, caused by scratchting (Very difficult not the scratch).

I have seen a surgeon who suggested skin grafting, but after careful consideration have decided not to go with it. The skin graft would be cut out from some of the skin on my buttocks. What concerned me about is is the likelihood having permenant scars on my buttocks. The surgeon also said that because I have dark skin there would be a chance of keloids forming, they are a very extreme form of scars. It would really crush my self confidence to have huge scars on my buttocks. I am also worried about the possibility of the surgery not going well, and continually having to be in and out of hospital.

I guess im just waiting to see what the future holds, I ve heard of a techique which sounds similar to liposuction where sweat glands are sucked out, but im having difficulty finding out more and where I can get this done. Research is also being done on creating skin grafts in labs, I think this is something that would could solve our problems in the future.

But for now the routine I have is helping alot, making it much easier to live with :0)

I strongly recommend you not waste time with surgery. I've had the "cysts" removed from my groin area only to have it return. This has been going on for 22 years in the same place a surgeon removed a chunk of skin. Major scarring and with the HS returning, it's scars on top of scars/tissue. I've been trying tea tree oil which seems to dry it out. I'm going to try tumeric a natural herb. Google it. I have also noticed from other bloggers that stomach problems seem to correlate with HS. I've had bloating and constipation for years. Had upper and lower GI procedures. Tried gluten free diet, probiotics, non dairy. Learned dairy hurts my stomach. This all may be related. Do more research before cutting into your skin only to have HS return. Diet and supplemental herbs may be the key to manage HS, but I hVe read about others who had this surgically removed only to have it return.

Also I use syringe and put peroxide in the area. I am thankful tho it ain't spread I got desperate and basically dug the tracts out little at time .There is dark strip I. each one that is connected. Please don't think I am crazy just no doctors and what few we do have don't accept my insurance. But the holes cleared up and disappeared.
