hello i suffer from depression and anxiety. Am on citalopram, and occasional mirtazapine. Thinking this could all be related to menopause i have gone to the Dr Louise Newsom clinic (specialise in menopause) and gone on hrt. ten days in i feel dreadful, awful blackness not wanting to go on. I have read some posts here from two years ago, which were so reassuring in that other people experience similar and one does not feel so alone. i am 69, so not the usual age to start hrt, but desperate to try anything. anyone else had similar experiences? At similar age?

Thank you

What are you taking? Did they test your hormones before prescribing?

no but prob not necessary at my age! All natural hormones already present in the body.

Finding the right HRT can be very a long and difficult process. I been trying different HRT for 2 years now. A few gave me really bad anxiety for the first time in my life. It was awful. I have premature ovarian failure basically early menopause so i am only 29. I think maybe talking to a therapist as well as menopausal dr to try find what cause your depression could help.

Are you still on a HRT? I am 36 and have been on hormone pellet for almost a year. I begin Having really bad anxiety for the first time in my life about three months ago. I did notice it was towards the end of my pellet cycle. my doctor told me it was probably not related to my palate. I redid my palate and now coming to the end of my cycle again and I’m noticing some anxiety. I wonder if this is a side effect of the pellet wearing off? Have you heard of anxiety being a side effect especially when wearing off ?

I never taken pellets so I am not sure about the side effects. I am currently taking tibolone 2.5mg . All medication comes with leaflet with all known side effects check that. i think anxiety is quite a normal side effect with HRT. Hope this helps.

i am 50 and started oral HRT in March 2021 i have tried the same anti anxiety med that u are on it made my symptoms worse. HRT has taken away a lot of my physical symptoms but the emotional issues are there every single day. i too wish someone that had these issues would come back on and tell us that there is hope and it will go away.
