which was anterior posterior repairs and also the coil had to be removed as had gone astray so i suppose they did all that as well. now been about 10  or more weeks now. how do i feel well still a bit funny down below as the stiches on outside well they feel strange but seem to be healing well. got a few left inside i think . but its more the worry of it not having worked that is making me feel aweful i still cant do as much as i would like.found out they arent even doing a follow up appointment at the hospital so how would they know if it worked. well had to go to doctors so they are sending me for a follow up so will see when i get that one. sometimes feel i aint the woman  i used to be. any one else felt like this after the operationx

Hello, new on here . Hope you recover more from your op as time goes on,but you would think that there would have to be a follow up. I have a rectocele and cystocele, just diagnosed lat week after being told for thirteen wks that it was IBS. Still not convinced they have made a right diagnosis as I feel really quite poorly with constant indigestion and nausea, just not feeling well at all. Could you tell me what your symptoms were as I am feeling quite unsure and anxious now

hi margaret the symtoms were a feeling of everthing falling out although they said it was mild to start with it wasnt .i had bad stomach ache all the time and couldnt pee or poo properly .i had to hold down below to get a poo which isnt nice at all. i also have cronic ibs so with me that didnt help at all. felt like i was walking with a football between my legs . took me over two years to get the operation had physio on pelvic floor which did help a little then a pessary which didnt work so operation it was . and well im only 10 or more weeks in recovery  im aged 55 so is taking a wee bit longer to heal . im waiting on a follow up appointment now as keep getting a pain in side where the bladder was sorted . so will just have to wait on that also waiting on a scan to make sure it isnt an  infection . i do so hope they help you better than the help i got . im glad i found this site as i felt so alone with it all. and sorry to say you will be anxious and is hard to explain to others how you feel at moment im up and down maybe once i have follow up i will feel so much better.

    Hi Sue

I had vaginal hysterectomy plus bladder and bowel repair 17 weeks ago.  I just returned to work yesterday but it was over 12 weeks before I started to feel that I was really making progress and only the last couple of weeks that I have felt more like my old self.  I wasn’t allowed to drive until after 12 weeks anyway and have been really careful about not lifting and have rested regularly.  I built up to walking about 8000 steps a day by week 10 and paid privately to see a physio for pelvic floor exercises but have seen the consultant twice during recovery and have now been discharged.  I am sure you should have a follow up with consultant so glad your doctor has written to them.  I think that the recovery from these operations take a lot longer than we are originally told, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and I feel better now than before the op.  I know when I have done too much and I still get a lot of swelling in my abdomen but  I will just continue to listen to my body.  I am sure you will be fine just got to let your body heal fully.

    Take care

thank you tina, just  seems like its one day forward and one day back . i have managed t o get to forty minutes walk most days and im about fourteen weeks since vaginal anterior and posterior repairs and just feel as thought im not working right yet . get s me rather fed up at times but as you say we all heal differently and at different times. Really wish they had told us all properly how we would feel although going through the menapause doesnt help either.i will just have to wait and see if i d o get a follow up and just hope its soon so they can tell me if it worked properly and why im getting pains in bladder side . but at least i dont have to take the painkillers i just deal with it .

Hi i also didnt get a follow up appt after surgery. It took 5 months after my op and several referrals and my telephoning my surgeons secretary before i got seen. I am having lots of bowel problems after surgery. Im really disappointed in the aftercare of gynae surgery.

I had bowel issues including severe pain In my abdomen before and after op and doctor has prescribed laxido daily for life.  It doesn’t have any side effects and as long as I take it daily and stick to a healthy diet everything is fine.

I have Seen my consultant eventually, and he says i have lots of scar tissue in there and it has narrowed entrance into vagina. He just said i best use some lube before i try for sex as it will hurt and may not be able to have full penetration!!! And then has referred me onto a colorectal surgeon to fix his mistakes. Not happy at all, support offered to deal with complications.
