I'm a 40 yr old woman with two young children. have been suffering with shooting, nerve pain all over my body for some years.  It comes and goes, I've been diagnosed with Tennis Elbow, tendonitius in my ankles ect, ect.  However these pains can last from a few hours to three weeks.  I have pain in my ankles, hips, wrists fingers, elbows, shoulders and neck.  Sometimes I find it hard to walk.  I also suffer from Migraines, my vision becomes terrible and I loose feeling in my hands with pins and needles.  My face has become droopy too.  I'm just fed up with tooing and froing to the Dr and Physio.  The pain is bringing me down emotionally but I carry on.  No one understands as they can't see it.   Please any advice would be gratefully recieved x

I know how you feel Lisa I have lived with pain since my early 40s and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia but recently I have developed symptoms which I am now being referred to a neurologist for. Pins and needles left leg weakness and eye problems so I am hoping I may get some help soon. My only advice is persistence. My heart goes out to you. Kim

LisaJane it sounds to me that you need to push for a referral to a neurologist, you have a lot of different symtpons there which are obviously effecting your quality of life on a daily basis. It is really difficult in that most people can't see your symptons and assume you are ok but you just want them to realise that me just getting through the day hour by hour is just so hard and trying To remain functional on any level can leave you feeling exhausted. What has you doctor said to you? Has she or he any idea what might be causing your problems? Then again if you are anything like me you probably never ever feel like you get all of your issues across to the doctor so they understand the full extent of what you are feeling. Ten minutes might as well be ten seconds sometimes. Just to say I haven't any answers for you but understand how you feel.

Thank you Kim and Adrian for your kind words, I will persist this time, I find Dr's don't seem to want to follow up or find a conclusion.  I'm not very good at getting across to the Dr how I'm feeling, I'm keeping a pain Diary at the moment, just so I and the Dr can see how often I'm in pain. Sometimes I can stride to the school, other's I'm hobbling because of what feels like a trapped nerve in my hips or ankles.  My hip tends to give way too.

hi, i'm sorry that you're dealing with all that pain, i have daily pain due to MS, so i know how you feel. it seems that you're most likely to be dealing with either MS or fibromyalgia. it's good that you're keeping a pain diary, do list ALL symptoms though, not 'just' pain. i'd recommend anyone to take a written list of what you want to tell a doctor, that way you won't forget anything.

      take care, xx
