HELP!!!

An update on the situation...not good. If anything, things have deteriorated. The wound is no smaller and is bleeding A LOT and I mean a lot! I took the advice from here and have got an appointment back at the hospital to see a specialist. That appointment is on 16th February which is quite a while away and I am quite frankly desperate to get this nightmare sorted out, so am thinking of going private, even though I can't really afford it!! I would have been content to wait for that appointment but the events of the past few weeks have kicked me into action. I went to Charlton a few weeks ago to watch Forest play there. It was a 6 hour round trip and I'm guessing that sitting for that length of time didn't help matters. The next day, I went to the toilet and the wound was literally dripping with blood. It was like a tap, and it doesn't take a genious to work out that things can't be quite right. I told the nurse this the next day but she just brushed it off saying that it looked all right.
The next development was that they thought the wound looked infected (I say 'they' because the consistancy at the surgery I go to is a complete joke. It's a new person every day, and the person I have seen the most has gone off to India for a month. My message to her - thanks for nothing!! I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I do think a certain amount of blame has to rest at their feet. I had the operation 6 months ago. I wonder if people such as Prince William and Harry would be have suffered for this long had they had it? The fact that the wound was not healing may not be down to them, but I think it's disgraceful that I was the one who had to do research on here to get the referral in the first place. They would have just let it go on and on and play with my life some more. With regards to the infection, I asked the nurse if I could have the anti-biotics when she first detected there might be a problem. The last time I had an infection they waited for a while to give me the antibiotics which made the wound break down and has left me in this situation. She did the same thing this time which really annoyed me. Anyway rant over!)
I was given the prescription a few days ago and had to fork out £14 of my own money (which is a lot for a poor student who can't work!) because of their incompetance! I have been taking the pills for a few days now and nothing seems to have changed. The only thing that has happened is the awful side effects! I'm on two sets of antibiotics, one of which is very strong indeed. It's the one where you are not allowed any alcohol at all as it may cause liver failure if consumed. Anyway, this morning when I woke up, the wound felt and smelt a little different. When I went to the toilet about an hour or so ago, it bled a lot again, probably more so than last time (and I'm talking about drops of blood all over the floor, the toilet and basically everything!) It's very worrying and I don't think I can wait until the 16th to get it checked out so am thinking about phoning BUPA or somewhere and asking for a quote. I'm prepared to spend whatever little money I have to get this sorted out!
Has anyone else been through anything similar? How did you sort it out? How long did it take? Any advice to stop the bleeding?
I really need this to clear up as I'm going to uni next year and taking something like this with me would be a disaster!!
Thanks for any help.

I had an operation in February 2008 for this, to this day the wound has not healed and now another hole has opened up at the bottom of the wound. Its very worrying as in just a week the hole is back to being as big as it was when I first had the operation, the past few days it has been extreemely painful and bleeding a lot so was unable to work. I saw the doctor on friday and was told that I didnt need any antibiotics.
Luckily I can go private as I have health insurance with work so called them last friday and had an appointment on Monday, the consultant prescribed me antibiotics and I have to go back next week when he will decide what to to.
He seems reluctant to operate again and says they may clean the wound out under anethestic to make sure there is no puss or anything stopping it from healing still in there.
I would definatey recommend trying to go private as you get seen so much quicker which I think is vital with this sort of problem.
Hope this helps.

i ve been a victim of pilonidal sinus for the last 10 years , and trust me it has only gone bad to worse after surguries .
i had my first surgery in somewhere around late 1999 and the disease was hardly 6 months old , my doc was a fabulous guy helped me around with each n every little tip he could give , i realize it now because at that time i didnt know what and how pilo sinus could be treated . he operated me with the wound kept open ( best way i could figure ) . The best part is that he himself had this problem of pilonidal sinus .
anyways , after an yr the infection reoccured . i was told that it can .
i dont know why but the pain was never like before ,,,,, i mean it was always lighter so it didnt bother me much apart from a dirty underwear .
but in yr 2007 , things changed and i started to have abcess right next to my butt hole . this was deadly and hurt like hell . so i got it surgically drained out . it didnt help much and started to happen again with more frequency , i mean i used to lie on bed in one position for days n days until it use to burst . sometimes for 3-4 days . this lying on bed broke me mentally more than physically .
a dear friend of mine asked me to see a homeopatic doctor ( i never believed in it ) , but since i had no other option i decided to start his treatment . i was not given any time to how long it might take but was assured that it would go away with regular medicine .
now its been almost an year that on this homeo treatment and trust me IT HELPED ME BIG TIME ,,,,, initially i thought it was making things bad to worse because the pus was draining out all the time but now i realize it was part of the treatment . since the last 3-4 months im feeling much better n healthier and im grateful to that guy after GOD almighty who directed me to this doc .
moral of the story ..... dont take antibiotics they make things worse , trust me . there's no 100% gurantee of this sinus leaving ur body even after 10 operations , as the doc says they dont have a cure to it in alopethic n i believe in him now .

The wound bleeds, and bleeds and bleeds. everytime i go the toilet it just pours out. I had the surgery on 12th January, so its been around 8-9 weeks i think ? and it still bleeds. theres no infection but i was using silvercell dressings for 4 weeks to see if that helped.. and it didnt.
Everytime i told the nurse it had bled they would say 'if it bleeds again go to A&E'
Last week a nurse was changing the dressing and seen the bleeding for herself, and she was in a very big panic... she got really concerend and was sending me to A&E.... she stemmed the bleeding after about 20 minutes so I didn't go to hospital.
However when i seen the surgeon 6 weeks after my op, he said bleeding was normal because of where the wound is.
but it still concerns me when the nurses say it shouldnt be bleeding at this stage.

Been lying in bed ever since, apart from walking to and from the toilet.
A nurse comes everyday to change my packing and dressing, but today the head nurse came and she was worried about the amount of bleeding that was happening to the wound.
As she was packing the wound, she also mentioned that there was a hard lump right by the side of the wound.
She didn't really do much else after changing the dressing and left.
Should I be worried about this bleeding and hard lump? I can't feel the lump myself because of all the dressing thats covering the area so I'm not sure what it is. Could it be another cyst already?
