I have been taking Sertraline for anxiety and panic attacks for about 3 months and for the last 7 weeks or so have felt great.. back to my old self.. but the last 3 days i have felt my symptoms returning...im not getting the fast beating heart and palpitations but i am also taking Ramipril now for high blood pressure so this may be helping that aspect... but i am experiencing sweaty palms, a general feeling of anxiousness and panic and that awful feeling of feeling detached from reality which i particulalry hate... has anyone else experienced this?? do you think i need to increase my dose or is it a side effect of the drug??

just an update... a few days after i posted this i felt ok again but again the symptoms have returned and for the last 8 days i have been feeling anxious, sweaty palms and the awful spaced out feeling of being detached from reality... really dont want to increase my dose as a few weeks ago I felt so good I was thinking of asking to come off Setraline... now i feel im going backwards and feeling like i did at the beginning... has anyone else experienced times when their anxiety returns as looking through posts people seem to have problems at the beginning but are then ok... i seem to have weeks when i feel great then i get times when i feel really anxious again...any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, i have been on sertraline 50mgs for 9 months for severe anxiety. Initially i had all the side effects then it settled down. I would say it took about 3 months before i could wake up in the morning without checking myself, ,how do i feel, do i feel sick, do i feel dizzy, do i feel faint, do i feel palpitations do i feel detatched and so on. Anyone suffering anxiety will know these symptoms well. Fast forward a few months coping well and i realise i am starting to feel the same old feelings returning, i start to think the tablets arent working any more, should i go back to the docs and up the dose, but i decided to just leave it and see how it goes. I have realised sertraline is not a miracle cure but a huge help on our road to recovery. I would certainly say keep going and allow your anxious feelings to come and go and dont allow them to make you feel you are not making progress. You are, just believe in yourself Take care and let me know how you are getting on.
