Help!

Hi I'm new here. I was just looking for a little advice on either prescription drugs or alternative therapies anyone could recomend. I have been diagnosed for 2 years now and have been told in the past weeks that I have tried everything thats available and that there is nothing that my GP can now do for me. This as you can understand is not ideal. I am 20 and at university and juggling a part time jobs ontop of my degree. I really just need some reasurance that there are things I can continue to try and that I am not a lost cause (as suggested by my GP).

So far I have tried,

Amitriptyline

Gabapentin

Duloxetine

Sertraline

and just general pain killers

Along with regular physio and currently waiting for my first appointment at the pain clinic.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi sarah60005 Has your gp tried you on morphine or pain patches? The pain clinic will hopefully come up with something to help you. one of the ladies on the forum has seen an Ayruvedic dr they specialise in herbal remedies. My gp tried me on everything their was pain wise. But I was allergic to them all so I dont take anything pain wise. Hope you find something that works for you take care happy easter

Hiya..Sarah, my two bobs worth, really feeling fir you, welcome to us...ask as many questions as you like, we have all been tere or are ther. .Amithriptilyne is  the only med I take for Fibro...gives me a great pain free sleep..- no pain..still feel a tad drowsy waking up...but that sleep is what makes this Fibro manageable for me..only get flare ups now..once  it was just constant  pain almost everywhere and sleepless nights..I take it 7pm before bed..it really does work wonders ( for me..that is,) we are all very different..I take 25 mg...never had it increased either ...started on 50mg but I was like a zombie...all the next day..dropped to 10mg for a while-still not too good but 25 mg is perfect for me..it is actually an antidepressant that works excellent for pain..it numbs the nerve ends and stops the pain from jumping on to the next nerve..hence a very painful body...the antidepressant is probably a lil bonus as most of get depressed from time to time..yes it does knock me out to give me that great sleep which is just sooo needed, to be able to deal with the pain etc the next day..but once I'm up and dressed..I'm fine.....Its great...16yrs down the track..have to be woken up in the morning..but once up and about I'm just fine.....when I was first on them I was like a zombie..but it's like a miracle med for me... it takes a while to settle in. ..also, please remember that less stress is the key to Fibro....be blessed..have a lovely day..:-) xxx

Truth is Sarah.... there is No 'Long Term treatment'...and what treatment is legally available will have side affects, or after a few weeks have no affect.  It's a slide to no where I'm afraid.   My specialist doctor who is a Director of Physicians at a major public hospital spoke at length about Fibro with me.  He simply said 'there is NO known long term drugs and treatment to cure this, or kill the pain'...

However I do know that the natural green product 'DOES work'...  only need a very small amount steeped in heated teaspoon of oil, then mixed in Yoghurt or similar, and it's FAST working.  NO pain, take at night timea couple of hours before bed maybe for pain relief and you'l also get a good nights sleep.

It must be good product and no leafy stuff.   Has to be good part of the plant. If I write to much down here it will moderate my post and probably withhold it! LOL...

Apart from being on a Morphine drip , this is the only EVER thing I have used that actually WORKS...!!  It is natural, and does has all the desired answers to getting rid of pain, and allowing a good nights sleep.  By far the best treatment option by a mile...  a million plus miles..!!!  Don't let some others opinions deter you from ever trying it.   AFter all our real Heavy drugs are stemmed from Opium Poppies, morphine, Heroin etc...  is Opium.

Natural Green M is also being used a lot now even with the permission of some medical boards.  Only reason why they haven't legalised it here yet is due to 'how are they going to TAX IT, and make MONEY from it, and still keep it illegal from the public.  Making the public apply and pay for it.   It's a scam.

I see in a state of Australia it has been Legalised.  It will be here to in time... thank goodness.  So far only the Celebrities etc whom have died have had their situations televised here to say 'the Celebrity/s such n such,(name/s)were taking and using Can/Mari'na , sometimes the Oil derivative..

I do know of others who swear by it...Don't be afraid. Take care now and all the best.   xx

Thank you all for your advice and kind words currently sitting in the waiting room of my GP practice. Hopefully I can get some answers today (I'm not leaving without them). Will be asking about some of the drugs you have suggested and see where that gets me. Thank you again!

    Hi Sarah

For the past 12 months I have been on ayurvedic herbal remedies after suffering for over 20yrs of pains.  Only diagnosed with Fibro Aug 2014.  I can honestly say with patience and adjusting to a change in my diet with the aid of herbal remedies I have reduced pains of 95% and am now having remedies to help with my sleep and general tiredness.

I have found this more benefit yo me and my health.  I also attended a one to one sessions for a period of six weeks (only once a week) with CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), this helped with dealing with my daily life and positive thinking.

If you want more details of my herbal remedies feel free to message me privately, as it will be sent to moderator if I explain on this forum.  I did post my experience many months ago.  It's a long read but if you get a chance take time to learn of my experiences.

Take care and hope you will get the advice you need on this forum.  Just don't give up and stay positive. wink xx

I went to the pain clinic and please don't expect too much from them, it's more of a therapy session, they don't emphasis on what you need but more to do with how to think x
