Help!

Ok so I’m in a real pickle. I’m pretty sure I have sleep apnea (not from being overweight but because I was born with an extremely small jaw and now my wisdom teeth are starting to come in and it’s even worse). I’ve woken up many times feeling out of breath and like my heart stopped and my mouth is extremely dry. My boyfriend has also told me that he can hear me snoring.

Here’s my problem-I know for a fact that I won’t be able to do a sleep study. I have really bad health anxiety/anxiety in general and just know I won’t be able to fall asleep what so ever with a bunch of machines hooked up to me and with a bunch of people monitoring me. You can’t just get treatment for this over the counter so what do I do?!?! sad

    Hi Kim,

As you say, you can't just get treatment OTC, and I'm afraid you can't get treatment on a forum either.

You're going to have to see a doctor about this, one way or another. A sleep specialist won't automatically put you in the lab, he/she should examine you first. It might also be that your wisdom teeth need to be removed. If your jaw is abnormally small, then you might need to see an oral/maxillofacial surgeon.

The important thing is to see a professional, face-to-face, to get a correct diagnosis.

Yeah I definitely need to get my wisdom teeth removed, I’m just in a really tight spot right now. My health is struggling on a lot of different levels and I haven’t been able to work. My boyfriend has been supporting both of us financially and I’m just so overwhelmed and don’t know what to get addressed first anymore sad sorry for the TMI, just needed to vent I guess. Thanks for the reply.
