Help!

Hi all,

Was wondering whether anyone could help me out. I'm awaiting a gynaecology appointment for them to see if I have lichen sclerosus. I have a white shiny patch between my vagina and anus and both sides of my vagina. I've read this is normal.

However I now have a few slightly raised whitish colour bumps on one side of my vagina. Is this another symptom of lichen sclerosus as I have not read anything about bumps as a symptom?

Call a dermatologist for an appointment. Ask if they deal with the vulva.

In Charlotte, NC the specialist is Dr. Libby Edwards.

    Good Luck!

Thank you. I've been to see my doctor about this already and they have referred me to the hospital gynecologist.

I was just wondering whether bumps where a normal symptom of LS as I know white patches are.

Hi Francesca ... white bumps are normal for me, it was part of my diagnosis with my GP.

I only got referred to dermatology when I took a reaction to a steroid, as things are different here in the UK.

    Hope your appointment goes well.

Thank you for your comment. I'm just worried as have all sorts flying round in my head at the moment. My doctor hasn't been too helpful either as she reckons I'm too young to have it 😕

I hit the report button by mistake. So sorry!

I started getting symptoms around age 35 and went back and forth to different GPs until I was diagnosed aged around 40 by a great lady GP so don't for a minute think you can be too young as I believe all ages can get it, it's just more common in menopausal women.

Please try not to worry too much, there is so much information on this forum that is helpful and things you can do to help yourself and cope.

It's been quite annoying to be honest. I've seen 3 doctors now and the last one pretty much laughed when I said about it. I ended up going to A&E at the hospital in the end and they've got the doctors to refer me.

I was just a bit worried as all the pictures of seen and information I have read has said about white patches but nothing about raised bumps that go along with it.

Thank you for your reassurance though 😊
