eliminate chocolate and caffeine. I had to do that. I initially was taking 25mg but now I am up to 50mg. at night. Exercise helps sometimes

i havent had chocolate or caffeine in mos. im concerned about taking 2 different antidepressants at the same time. ive been walking a mile a day. ive read about amitryptaline having crazy side effects and withdrawl. forgot to mention the terrible headaches and back pain

You are right to be concerned about two different antidepressants - if it was just to help you sleep, a sleeping pill (like ambien) would be better. I have taken 25 mg amitriptyline forever (it seems) and take 2.5 mg ambien when I have trouble sleeping. It does take a little while for amit. to kick in, but I'd seriously think twice about taking it with zoloft. Withdrawl from amit is supposedly very difficult, so if you are going to decide against taking it - the sooner the better!

I had nightmares in the beginning if I missed a dose in the beginning. We moved in the fall. We thought it would take a day or two and I ran out but I thought I would be ok if I missed a couple days. We ended up taking four days. The withdrawal was awful At that point I had to get my prescription filled it was that bad

you could start 10 mg amitryptaline once at night, if it did not help in 2 weeks then to increase to 25 mg .
