Hi all. I have not been diagnosed with meniaires but waiting for am appointment to see a specialist.
I keep having attacks of severe vertigo and vomiting. To the point I want to die. The attack last about an hour or so but the dizziness continues for about 24 hrs.
The attacks are becoming more frequent and would welcome any advice on the condition and how to cope with it. What would be the best thing to do to prevent these attacks that are making me very down.
Thanks in advance
Paul

Paul, before I knew I had md, it was very scary not knowing what was going on. I've learned now to take Xanax as soon as I feel dizzy, I have sublingual anti nausea medcation and it also helps for me to look into a mirror, it helps steady myself and can sometimes prevent vomitting. I have a hand held mirror but have also turned the camera around on my phone.
I hope you get some relief soon, see an ent, make sure they take a good history of your symptoms to get an accurate diagnosis.

Sounds like you have had a hard time with MD for a while. I did speak to my Gp today and she told me to double my dose to 32 mg 3 times a day and see if it helps.
Another turn this Tuesday so it feels like it's becoming more frequent.
Do any of you have a way of getting through the attacks? That is one thing I do struggle with.
Thanks for your advice and sharing your info

I've had MD for about three years with severe episodes occuring about every three months. In the last six months I've had twice a two week period where I have mild attacks daily. I'm just about at the end of my current two week stint. I can't leave the house for fear of having a sudden attack while I'm driving. Nothing out there yet to prevent them. It's something we just have to accept and live with.

"Nothing out there yet to prevent them." I'd be cautious with such definitive remarks, as it can really dash people's hopes. I'm not being a Pollyanna here. For instance, gentamicin injections have been shown to truly help significantly. Also, shunt surgery helps about a quarter of patients.

I'm now on 33mg betahistine three times a day and they seem to be working. Have an appointment at ENT in couple weeks time so hope to resolve some issues then.
