Hello

I first started on 50mg 9weeks ago by week 6 I went into 100mg so now been on medication for 9 weeks total . Thought I was starting to feel better but had a blip last night sad I've read generally it takes up to 8 weeks for the meds to work . I was wondering if upping the dose it is now going to take longer ?

Also I occasionally like to have a couple glasses of red wine once children in bed , I'm finding 2 small glasses makes me feel so groggy ... How do other people cope with drinking on Sertraline ?

Many thanks in advance I love this site !

Hi there Kelly, recovery from depression or anxiety is not a steady course, you get set backs and blips along the way, as long as the general trend is upwards then take the blips as just that. Upping the dose should help you get better quicker but everyone is different and the 8 week is just an average, some take longer others shorter.

Having a couple of glasses of wine occasionally is okay, the meds will make you feel groggy sooner, just drink in moderation.

    Hope this helps. Neil
