I took it upon myself to stop my zoloft cold Turkey. I was feeling strong and confident I could do it and i did for about 2 months. Well now I am feeling the withdrawals and they are terrible. It's making my work life miserable. I dont want to go to work due my high anxiety and now my insomnia is back and I am literally miserable and just want to cry all the time. I want to wean myself back on zoloft. I know I cant just start taking 200 mg a day again right off the bat. So what is a safe and healthy way of starting to wean yourself back on them? I'm figuring start with 50 mg or 100 mg a day and gradually build back up to 200.

I would start at 25 and see how you feel.  You may be more sensitive to the side effects re starting.   If you are fine after a week at 25 then up to 50, just wait it out a week or two before going up and increase 25 at a time.  X

I think you should speak with your doctor to be honest. Good luck and keep posting.

    Hi Alison

I had the same problem. I came off 150mg of Sertraline for 9 weeks and the withdrawal just got worse. I went back on 50mg a few weeks ago and this seems to be helping. I was only on Sertraline for 7 months so I disappointed that I had the withdrawal systems but I think I was still having bad anxiety.

    I wish you well.

Let me know how it goes.

I was on it for 2 and half years and I felt strong enough to stop it and I was doing great actually felt better than being on them but it was all a big lie and now I know that I can't stop them at least not for awhile and I will NOT being doing this again. If I decide to stop again then being weaned off with my doctors help is what I'm going to do!

So sorry to hear this allison. The exact same thing happened to me last year. I took sertraline with great success for 2 years then stopped almsot cold turkey and felt AMAZING for the next 2-3months then suddenly woke up one day with terrible anxiety, panic attacks and then insomnia due to the anxiety.

I tried a diff med and became obsessed with self harm.

Now im back on sertraline, starting to feel okay again.

Hope all the best for you. Id suggest starting at 50mg and work your way back up.

I am so sorry to hear that! I hope things get easier for you also! I cant believe how fast I went from being so strong to feeling like I am losing my mind! I will never do this to myself again. I never wanted to be someone who was addicted to meds but if living life like this is how it is then count me out!

200 mg off cold turkey is a lot. I recently dropped by 6.25mg and i felt sick for 4 days but then it got better. I can't even drop by 25mg at a time without issues. Low and slow many people need to go. I'll drop again very small in 3 months. Gotta give your system time to adjust instead of shocking it.
