I'm no doctor but it sounds like ibs for sure. Especially inconsistency of symptoms. Have you tracked what you eat and compared to symptoms?

Yes what I eat does not really affect it I do stay away from fried and spicy food tho but yes symptoms come and go very irregular that’s the only comfort I’m getting at the min surely if it was the dreaded c then it would be pretty constant / persistent

Gareth if you don't have any red flags like weight loss no appetite blood I would say sounds like ibs also but if you get more symptoms definitely ask for scopes not saying you should worry but the sooner the better if something comes about

Do you think so yes I’ve had none of this symptoms but it’s really hard to live with when it flares up

I can imagine I have ibs but mine is all constipation there are things that can be prescribed to help things even out there is over the counter things that can help like id guard or ib guard but ask your doctor before you try those as you may have health conditions that would aggravate things I'm not a doctor those meds I just said may have things in them that you could be allergic to so definitely ask a doctor before you try anything

Make sure that there is nothing in your diet which you have a negative reaction to, drink more fluids, include pre and probiotics, perhaps supplement silica, experiment like this and try and rectify.  I was told I had IBS by a specialist, I was also told that I could never recover, only intermissions, that there is no treatment available, but i`m 100% now, five years symptom free.

Gareth I don't get lower back pain is your pain lower or upper if it's upper the gallbladder and liver are in that area I'm not a doctor but maybe you can ask your doctor severe diarrhea is sometimes associated with the pancreas but it's encouraging that you don't have any red flags but I can tell by your posts you are really worried I hope things get better for you soon

Mainly lower but if it was pancreas would the diareah not be all the time instead of like 1 bad episode a month

I'm not a doctor but I have pancreatic disease if it were that as I said I'm not a doctor but it's upper back below the shoulder blades. You seem very concerned maybe you could talk to your doctor about a lower endoscopy not saying you have anything more than ibs but colitis or diverticulitis would be worth checking out I hope the doctors do something to improve your quality of life even if it is ibs there are meds including over the counter to make things better but please ask your doctor try not to think it's something terminal I'm going through that now and it's horrible for my quality of life I can hear in your posts that quality of life is not good right now and am sorry you are going through this just ask your doctor if there's something that that can be done to help your symptoms to improve life keep me posted I will have you in my thoughts
