I went through a similar thing with my recovery but at 8 weeks my angles were a bit better, probably around 95 flexion and 12 extension. Now I'm about 102/5 at five months. It took really aggressive physio to get that improvement. Is there any way you could have another consultation with the surgeon? I think they maybe should be looking to do a manipulation under anaesthetic. I'm not an expert though obviously. Are you still seeing a physio? What do they say?

I'm glad you are seeing the consultant because you are probably reaching a point where its difficult to get much of an improvement in flexion because the scar tissue gets tougher as time passes. If there is not a significant improvement in two weeks at least you can ask what your options are. Hopefully you will see some improvement though. Good luck!

Alison,
Unfortunately it takes time and pain to get to the degrees they want you to get. I have found doing a little at home to stretch goes along way in physical therapy. I bend my knee under a kitchen chair or if you can put a knee on a stair and slowly move forward till you feel the stretch. I also know that the no pain no gain slogan is important here. This is the case where a little homework does you good. I had a total knee revision three weeks ago and I am at a 134 degree not because I am better I just know the more he pushes the better I will be and the more I do home stretches the better I will be. Good Luck and push for movement.

I am so sorry you are having difficulties. Sounds to me like you might have scar tissue stopping you. Its an easy fix with a manipulation, as i had one with my first TKR, Had my left done 3 weeks ago and its a different outcome entirely! BEST WISHES!

I had mine at 135. just takes persistence. Sit on the floor with a towel under you foot and a belt around your ankle and pull it back til it hurts slightly and hold for as long as you can. then relax. At least 20 minutes twice a day. I learned that in physical therapy.

ROM Work at Home
#3 is guaranteed to straighten your leg...and it's just gravity. Then you get brave and use ankle weights. Remember...send everyone out of the house, turn the music up loud and tell your neighbors not to call the police. Yeah...this one's tough but soooooo effective. Breaking down the scar tissue is NOT a linear process. There are advances, setbacks and plateaus. I got stuck at -4 for weeks until I broke through. Time, work and patience. You'll get there.
