hi, i began taking lexapro about 2 years ago at 10 mg. It created agitation, so I reduced to 5. Still agitated, went down to 2.5. no side effects. My phsciatrist said that dose was too low to have any impact on anything? I Stopped...I immidiatlly noticed a lack of emotion regulation. I would cry at the drop of a pin and thoughts about loved ones. i started again and after a week or two was ok with becoming so easily moved emotionally. OK, all that said, my recent issue is morning anxiety. weird part, when i wake to pee, after 6 or 7 hours of sleep i feel fine. when i wake after 8 1/2 or 9, i have the nervous stomach. its manageable, but bothersome. should i take the lexapro at bed? increase to 5 since my side effects are gone? Or is this a lingering side effect? i know your not DR's, just looking for similar issues and remedies. thanks for allowing me to the group

What you are describing is textbook anxiety symptoms. When you wake just before your normal routine time, your cortisol production hasn't set in to increase adrenaline (which in turn causes the stomach you mentioned). When the cortisol kicks it, then it will occur. The lexapro may or may not keep this in check (that is more a job of an SNRI rather than an SSRI like Escitalopram). With regards to taking it before bed, it is unlike to have any impact on what you describe. Bear in mind that your peak blood levels of Escitalopram are around 3-4 hours after you have taken in, so you will be asleep during the potentially better times.

That said, I am going by what I know and have experienced and learnt through others. It may be this does work for you, but I doubt it. If you do want to switch times of taking the med, do it gradually over a few days. Do not just jump 12 hours forward and back, otherwise you will have something to worry about.
