HELP! Acid is consuming my body..

Hi all! I'm a 48 year old woman and have been healthy as far as I could tell. I've worked for the past 30 years...the sort of girl that doesn't miss a day of work. I haven't worked in 2 years now due to my battle with stomach acid.

It started with what felt like "phlegm" in my throat. During summer months I found myself clearing my throat a lot. After 3 years of this, I started feeling very dizzy and would sometimes blackout when I stood up after sitting. I would stand against a wall in order for it to break my fall if I was to pass out and paid no attention to it. I also found myself getting confused (to the point that I've been in 3 car accidents within a years time, couldn't recall what my house looked like inside, and sometimes forget where it is I'm going once I leave to go somewhere). I told my doctor I thought it was a sinus infection but a CT of my sinuses showed nothing wrong. After this...I left it alone for two years and thought maybe it was just allergies since it seemed to be worse during the summer.

I got to the point that I had no energy (sometimes not even enough to pull my arms forward). I felt out of breath, had heart palpitations and became very concerned. I went for a chest Xray and they diagnosed me with Atherosclerosis and Asthma. Been to the hospital several times for tightening of my chest and blood pressure spikes but my stress test showed that my heart appears ok. Saw a ENT and he told me that my vocal cords were irritated due to the stomach acid and said "you're too young for this" and that he was "sorry" (that was all the info I got from him). Went to GI doctor and was told I had an irritated spot in my stomach and the biopsy came back clean but did say I had acid reflux.

I go through about 2500 tissues each month (250 in each box and Costco sells a package with 10 boxes...which I use til they are drenched). I'm blowing the acid out my nose...my head/ears is completely drown in acid. I've had times of vomiting, nausea, and I'm tired most of the time. I have not had heartburn but do get respiration when breathing. Also, I blow stones out of my nose (like tonsil stones but I can feel them coming UP my throat so not coming from my tonsils). I get bladder spasms and have a VERY heavy feeling (which gets painful) near my tailbone. When I have this tailbone pain I also get cold and shiver like crazy! I've had CTs of my abdominal area and they note calcification each time. Xrays of lungs show hyper-inflammation and I've also had colitis many years ago. My urine is jumpy or sparkling. I've fallen into a deep depression due to the fact that there is no relief and the symptoms scare the hell out of me. Also the doctors don't seem to take any of this serious even though my bloodwork never comes out normal (high white, low red, very high lymphocytes) and none of the doctors seem to "think outside the box" when I try to convey that all these symptoms are related somehow.

As I mentioned, I've always been a "mover and shaker" and have always worked. Until 2 years ago...I was fired from 3 jobs back-to-back!!! The last boss asked if "something was going on with me" and now I feel I'm not well enough to work.

I'm wondering if anyone else have something similar to what I'm describing. Atherosclerosis (maybe due to stomach acid clogging my veins), asthma, dizzy spells & blackout when standing, nausea, vomiting, tightness in chest, heart palpitations, weakness, insomnia, exhaustion, confusion, stabbing pain in esophagus, urgent urination and bladder spasms (which is now gone), watery discharge from nose when bending, depression, congested head and ears, piercing abdominal pain, pins and needles pain in legs (feels like ants are biting me), aspiration (feels like I'm breathing chemicals at times), calcium deposits, kidney stone and spikes in blood pressure.

It breaks my heart each time I've gone to the doctor and they don't seem to take anything I'm saying serious. The GI doctor who preformed the endoscopy never met with me to go over the results of my biopsy. He had his nurse call and tell me there was just some irritation in my stomach and acted as if it wasn't a big deal. I suspect that this reflux has gone on so long that maybe it's starting to affect other organs???

I'm praying when I get better health care I can get seen by a really good doctor!!! Any advice on test to ask for, advice to give or anyone who can relate to the symptoms I've described?

i dont know if this will help for you but when i had silent reflux turns out it was dairy related reflux. i found an article by an ENT in DC and he mentions it. Try giving up dairy for three days and see if you can feel a difference. I pray you get better. God bless you.

you asked about test- barium swallow test.

It's great to have someone suggest anything at all!!! I so so appreciate your suggestion! I will take your advice and try this. I've given up pretty much everything I can think of so why not dairy...lol. When I read this I was trying to think about how much dairy I eat but cheese and butter is in my diet so I'll see if I get any relief while illuminating it for a few days. I've cut out tomato, citrus of any kind, no alcohol, stopped smoking, cut back on coffee (only 1/2 cup in am now), no onion and other things that seem to aggravate it. My acid covered tissues sorta smell like butter (sorry, I know that's gross) so maybe you're onto something.
