Help advice needed please

I have suffered with acid and bloating for a good few years so am used to different pains but this week i got awful pains in stomach (across where navel is ). Not like a stomach ache pain but severe and really sharp shooting pains from there up to my chest. Also for days felt sore around ribs where bra fits, and tender between shoulder blades. I have suspected gall bladder problems and have mentioned frequently to my gp that i get tender area either side of navel and bloating and frequent burping plus occasional nausea.  I am due to have an ultrasound scan next Saturday to see if i have gallstoness. Its the pain going up into chest that have freaked me out, does this sound like gall bladder problem please .

Sounds exactly like my symptoms. I had ultrasound and it did show gallstones. Had my gallbladder out just over a year ago and have never felt better. Hope you get some relief soon! Horrible pain and yes it was very scary when it would happen.

Thanks purplegirl, i will gladly let them take my gall bladder out if it can end all my digestion problems.  Pain frightens me when i dont know the cause. So glad your op was a success for you.

Everyone is different. I had gallstones and had my gallbladder out 7 weeks ago. My pain was stomach cramps and in my right side, never my chest or shoulder blades. However, I talked to several people who had gallstones and had their gallbladder removed and they experienced these pains, so it could be gallstones, the scan will tell.

My only advice at the moment would be keep on a lo fat diet and if it turns out to be gallstones, get yourself on the operation list tell them you are willing to go in on a cancellation and get your gallbladder out sooner rather than later. I am still having to be caeful what I eat but am so much better than I was.

Thanks sarah, yes i knew everyone seems to vary in their symptoms which makes it very worrying if you find you have something different to everyone else.It a bit more reassuring when you find someone with similar symptoms.  I had noticed that certain foods seem to trigger some of my symptoms eg cream . I have been trying to cut down on fats due to raised cholesterol. Just hoping my scan on Saturday shows the problem as its getting worse over time.

Hi this is just an update after my gall bladder scan which i had yesterday. I was there at least half an hour and he seemed very thorough scanning all stomach area and sides taking loads of pictures. I asked if he found any gallstones and he said no ! I now have to wait to see my gp for results and at a complete loss as to where these pains are coming from. Although i did not want to have gallstones at least i would know what i am dealing with.

I waited a week before getting results of scan and it then took them ages to get those results to local surgery. We had Christmas holidays in between which did not hurry things up!!

Hope you get some answers from your gp.

Take care and keep in touch

      Praying for you

Thank you Sarah, i managed to get to see my gp for my results and she said no stones were found. But i did have a slightly fatty liver and advised low fat diet and increasing exercise.  I am still having some tenderness in gall bladder area and digestion issues and after reading some of peoples stories on here  i am still thinking i may have something going on with my gall bladder. It seems that stones dont always show on an ultrasound scan or it could be sludge causing discomfort so will not rule out the gall bladder just  yet. Hope you are feeling much better now you have yours removed.

      Best wishes, Frances
