Help! Antidepressants stopped working!

Posted , 6 users are following.

I've bee on cipralex for nearly a year now and it's been so good for me. No side effects and completely have felt my normal self. Last week however it was like someone had suddenly switched them off. I feel anxious, low mood like I'm going back to square one. Any thoughts or answers would be most appreciated! Thanks!!

The medication your taking has probably worn out on you if you have been using them constantly or you may just need new medications but should ask your doctor first hope you feel better smile

Sadly that's what happens when meds are used as the only aid to anxiety and depression. That isn't really what they are for. They typically are for short term use while the underlying issue is dealt with. The other alternative is a never ending cycle of new meds and eventual side effects, that's just how it goes

Hi, I  myself clinically depressed a few years ago, saw a counsellor which did not help. Anxiety/panic ruled  Got to nervous to leave the  house, stopped driving.  Nightmare.  My doc told me she wanted to put me on Prothiaden, really did not want to.  But she said to trust her.  After about 3 weeks I realised my appetite cam back and I smiled again.  They were a life saver for me.  I stayed on them or 11 years without a break.  Came off them slowly without withdrawal.

Sadly councillors help very few people, and of those only those with "simpler" issues. Psychotherapists are worlds apart and would have probably helped you a lot more

Happend me also during the years, something would work for a while then stop :o its a dose!

Either switch to something else like I did I dont know how many times.

At present, I am working alot of Mindfulness, CBT etc.. that side of things, to deal with my issues.

I do not want to be on a cocktail of drugs forever
