help! anxiety breathing difficulty?!?

Posted , 7 users are following.

I'm a 22 yr old male for the last 6 months I have had this constant pressure in my chest and my breathing is shirt labored/difficult and i mean constant all day every day.

i have obviously been to the docs and even to the emergency a couple of times where they have done chest xrays and heart tests and bloods all came back clear. They are putting it down to my anxiety. I cannot believe that this is cause by anxiety. Has anyone experienced the same thing???? Any help is appreciated

    Hi Adam

It is hard at first to get your head around the fact its anxiety.

Its a switch in your brain that is broken it is telling you your in danger when your not.

Try to distract yourself when an attack is happening exercise meditation keep hydrated a good diet are all good.

Consider therapy it teaches you how to cope with anxiety/panic.

Anxiety feed of fear so the more stressed you are about your psychosimatic health worries will only make your anxiety/panic worse

    Stay Strongcool

it is called Concious breathing. Even talking about it will make me have it. Breathing is something your body does on its own... For whatever reason you focused on your breathing, and now you have made it a forced action. You are trying to breathe too much and too deeply causing your chest to feel right. I imagine you aren't out of breath like you ran a marathon (this would be a bad symptom that your Dr has likely ruled out) I imagine it is like mine, where when I get busy and stop thinking about breathing, it goes away. Because of my severe anxiety and this specific symptom, after looking at my lungs and my pulse ox being 99-100, he upped my Zoloft and gave me Klonopin to take every day until the Zoloft has kicked in. It is helping a LOT. The breathing is still a thing, but once I can take a good deep breath, I am ok. I even ran a 5k this weekend with no issue. Trust me, you are ok. Mind over matter always with Health Anxiety.

Hi tara I too get the feeling of not being able to get a full breath. I have to force myself to yawn or take a deep breath that then causes a pain in my chest. It's true what they say try keep busy & you will find you don't notice it as your not thinking about it. The minute you think about it it's there. This is an anxiety symptom that comes & goes for me. I should by now relise if it was anything serious it would be there constantly. Hope this helps xx
