Help, at a loss with numerous symptoms, any advice would be gratefully received

Hello to you and thank you for taking the time to read my post.  I'm a 46 year old woman presenting with a myriad of symptoms, but to date, no firm diagnosis.  I saw a neurologist in January who diagnosed chronic migraine for the constant head pain and residual neck/shoulder pains I had been having (following a period of extreme stress).  The Migraine has improved but I have a number of new symptoms including erratic Menstrual periods , eye pressure, dizziness, chest pain and palps, neck shoulder and general joint pain and swelling, fatigue, lump in throat and oesophugus, IBS and general anxiety.   All these symptoms are really affecting my work and home life and the doctors have been so slow to react or assist.   I am being referred to a Fibro/CFS specialist but do these symptoms concur with others?  I really do not know what is wrong but some days I feel like giving up.  (NOTE:  I do have hypothyroidism/High Blood Pressure).  Any advice would be much appreciated and what has helped you?  Thank you so much for your time x

Hi Jules, sorry to hear of your suffering. May I ask if you have had your hormone level checked as although cfs/fibro cover many of your symptoms, so does peri-menopause. Are you taking HRT? Just a thought. I hope you get a final diagnosis and begin some form of treatment to help you soon x

Hi there... no I haven't been tested for hormone levels so you could be on to something there!  My periods have gone  a little squiffy over the past 5 months or so  - there may well be a connection.  I do not take HRT but will certainly have a chat with my GP as it could be I'm peri-menopausal.  Really appreciate the help and sending you best wishes - thank you x

You're very welcome Jules. There are so many symptoms in lots of different conditions, the final diagnosis is by elimination. My heartburn and Colin pain has been horrendous as has my fatigue and my joint pain. I have fibro/cfs, in my menopause, have widespread osteoarthritis and underactive thyroid. My many symptoms, all of which you suffer with too could belong to any of my conditions. I just have a hunch yours could be partly hormonal. I wish you all the best for your future health and we are all here for one another for bad days or questions or just a chat. Lots of love xx

Have you been tested for MS?

I haven't been tested exclusively for MS but did have a MRI in January 2016 which did not flag any concern re: lesions to the brain.   Thank you because some of the symptoms are similar to MS and my heart goes out to those with the diagnosis :-(  Much love to you.

Just want you to know, Jules, that I have just about all the same symptoms as you.  nd car accident (concussion) during that same time. Doctors are not sure exactly why I have these symptoms. I'm over 70 years old now and still have  them after having many tests.  I do have lower blood pressure, though, and my thyroid test last spring again came out normal.  I think my troublesome symptoms are the daily heart palps, heavy fatigue, and off-balance, dizzy feeling.  I do wonder whether you might have a heartburn issue, since I was diagnosed with acid reflx after having an endoscopy for the feeling the lump in the throat thing. IBS has also been with me for years, and began during my menopausal years.

I'm getting long-winded here, so will stop for now.  Just wanted you to know that most of your symptoms are like mine, and probably like what others here experience too.

Madge.. you are really lovely and thank you so much for your reply.   Yes, I do suffer with heartburn - how did you know?  Just certain foods trigger it (and coffee) so have to watch what I'm eating.  IBS was alien to me up until 6 months ago... now I regularly have problems.  I have found the replies very reassuring however I am so sorry to hear that you have had so many issues too.    You are an angel and I wish you all the very best.   I'll keep you updated. xxx

Hi Jules, I, too, have a lot of your symptoms and was diagnosed with just about everytning. The one main thing that has helped me was getting food allergy testing and eliminating foods that I was allergic to. It has relieved almost all of my symptoms. I have to be careful and check everything out for allergens, such as medication fillers, and other things that I am allergic to that may be hiding in my foods. Allergic reactions, I have found, don't just cause hives and breathing issues, but a whole bunch of other symptoms as well...dizziness, racing heart, heart palpitations, spikes in blood pressure and many others. For years, doctors diagnosed me with panic attacks and a panic disorder when in reality it was allergic reactions to food items. I was also vitamin d and b12 deficient but have since fixed that too. Hope this is of some help to you. Best wishes, Diana

Thank you so much Diana and I really appreciate your response.  I have purchased vitamins today incorporating Vitamin D and B12 so hopefully this will aid the recovery.   I have noticed that I do react to certain foods more so recently and I will definitely look in to allergy testing as another route.  I'm very grateful and I do wish you well and hope you make a full recovery.  Much love J x
