HELP! BACK 2 BACK OUTBREAKS ... Hormone related?? :(

I'm 26 and I was diagnosed with having HSV 2 over 10 years ago I caught it from a guy I was seeing whilst quite young at the time and did not know much about being safe etc . Unfortunately not too long after I was diagnosed with hsv 2 with mild to moderate symptoms . I was taking antiviral medication to help .. but this did not do much .after a couple years I stopped , because I didn't want to be reliant on a drug. Any way to cut a long story short from having mild to under control outbreaks . I have now for the past 1 and half year had constant outbreak with small pink sores close to vaginal opening - which appear to be two identical on either side which for 3 weeks will remain until my period comes and they start to heal . Then after my period that return in exactly the same spot .i don't know what to do and what could be causing this . I've been to my GP for blood tests etc and every thing has come back clear . Could this be hormonal I'm 26 in very good health & rarely get sick !!! PLS help!!!

So sorry to hear what your going through sad must be so frustrating!

Sounds odd that they heal as your period is due, I was always told that your period could bring them on but yours is the opposite?

Are you sure this is herpes related and you don't have a different type of skin infection?

If I was you I'd be seeing a sexual health specialist for some advice. I recently went to one as I had been to so many doctors who couldn't give me answers and it was honestly the best thing I have done!

Hello , Thanks for your reply . I have put up with the outbreaks for far to long it's just too much now . I have along term partner who's very accepting of my condition as I was completely honest with him from the beginning . I have been to the sexual health clinic a number of times I was diagnosed many years ago with having type 2 genital herpes . However since then the symptoms have changed (pink ulcers that do not fully heal) I got re tested and it came back negative :-/ which I think may be due to me being on antivirals for many years . They have booked me an appointment to see a dermatologist who should hopefully be able to give me some help with this annoying condition . I'd love to have children but just don't think it's safe to get pregnant .

Aww, FelisCatus is right though a swab is best. Was the retest a blood test or swab? I didnt know antivirals could cause a false negtive (still new to this).

I hope you get it sorted, so great that your partner is accepting also.

Get them swabbed for herpes the next time, then you'll know if it's herpes or something else. The swab test is most accurate when the sores are still fairly new, so don't wait till they start healing. The blood test for herpes won't tell you what's going on below, only whether you were one infected and carry the virus somewhere.

You can swab them but I've had something similar and they always swab negative, even within the required timeframe. Swab only picks up around half of true positives. Do you mind sharing whethey your partner has gotten it and if not, do you attribute that to condom use? I'm seeing someone and this is an issue for him in whether we should be serious or not (there is another issue so it's hard to say which is driving things. I am interested in others' experience).

Hi, To be honest this has been a health issue for me many years . At first I had symptoms of herpes and the tests were positive , however after several years of medication which improved my symptoms I then began to have other symptoms and now for the last 1 + year have had 2 specific vagina like sores that will not heal sad I keep researching to see and I'm just so confused.. I have an appoint to see a dermatologist next month so hopefully will get done answers . My advice to you is to be completely open and honest with your new partner , if he truly respects you he will understand the situation -remember no one is alone on is !! May is ask if you are having symptoms?!?
