Help!! Been in menopause for 8 years, I’m really struggling at the moment with my vagina!!

I’m 39, and have a regular partner. All been good no issues really.

But last month I’m feeling like a permanent thrush or UTI.

I did have a UTI over Xmas and that’s all cleared up.

I suffer with itchiness (occasionally), frequent urination, sometimes it burns. Feels like my bladder does not empty properly.

Sex is ok, there is a bit of a white discharge (only on sex), I get sore after. Even thoe well lubricated.

I always urinate straight after sex and shower.

I am on HRT patches, but wondering if it’s time to look at extras to sort my vagina out. As it’s causng me pain, and feeling low about it.

Oestrogen cream sorted out the vaginal dryness and uti for me. Ovestin contains the bioidentical hormone estriol which is actually a protective oestrogen and protects against cancer and cardiovascular problems that are the side effects of the other HRT hormones (estrone and estrodiol).

Hi suki thanks I am seeing my doctor on Monday so will be asking for the cream. I’ve also read about coconut oil & vit E capsules for vagina so I’m going to try that.

      I hate being menopausal. 😔

I managed on only coconut oil and vit e oil for around 4 years, but then the dryness got too much and sex started to hurt so I started in the ovestin cream. I also took and still take sea buckthorn oil (swallow the capsules - not fir interning into the vagina). I take 3g a day because a very good study found that taking that much sea buckthorn oil improved the thickness of the vaginal wall lining and the condition of the vaginal wall cells and is a viable alternative for women who cannot use HRT. However, sea buckthorn doesn’t improve the natural lubricarion.  I still use the coconut oil, which I apply externally and internally after every time I go to the toilet. Once a day I insert the oil from  a 400iu oral vit e capsule (break it open and drip onto a blob of coconut oil on the end of my finger then insert). I also insert coconut and vit e pessaries when I go to bed on the nights I am not suing the ovestin.

Hi angie, thanks for the reply. I do feel very alone in this, none of my friends going through it as I’m so young. I feel there is no support anywhere for us. Very alone. X
