Sorry THR is a real difficult surgery to overcome. If you are only 8 day post OP it would help to take pain meds to help control the pain and get sleep and rest.

    hi carol,

you are very early in recovery from this major surgery and so much healing and repairing is taking place ... this can make you feel antsy and restless - you cannot really move about as there is still some pain ...

It will settle down darling ...just hang in there ...

    big warm hug

Is it the feeling of 'sitting on a pile of golf balls'  -  I had that one, it's one of the 'pleasures' of this recovery - see my website (address at the bottom of the moderator's page https://patient.info/forums/discuss/thr-useful-resources-487147 which has many links to useful resources).

We do find it uncomfortable after the operation as our bodies start to try to knit back together and recover from this brutal operation.  Sleeping on our backs is yet another uncomfortable experience.

How you doing? Hope your pain has become manageable. It takes a few weeks to get thru the most difficult part.

Once you begin to walk 3-5 times a day and PT most of the muscles slowly return as the muscles begin to heal & get stronger. Take it slow and never push. Rest is just as important as exercise.

Im 5 weeks out from revision & broken femur from old THR recalled .so have extra cable holding broken totancher and 13" implant in place. Get up don't sit to long even if legs ache take a break & uses pain meds & muscle cream. Helps a lot and pressure pump from Amazon a boot to exercise legs and massage. Keep blood flow & oxygen moving.

This will pass I have been thru 3 THR each one seems to get harder as I age. However each one is different and recovery is always positive. PT WALKING EXERCISES, when your ready. I started PT 6 days after revision for 2weeks daily in rehab center, and so glad I did it so early in recovery compared to the prior two . PT EARLY with pain meds helps keep the muscles from fading .

    Hopexxx

Hi Carol. Me too. I'm only day 7 but the pain doesn't seem to be getting any better. Maybe we r expecting too much but I thought I'd be feeling a but better by now. I seem to be living from one dose to the next of painkillers but just can't get comfortable in between

im 8 days out of thr. All i have to say is OUCH! Never new what to expect during first few weeks. Nights are hardest. Glad to hear it sounds like i'm on track. All I hear is how good I will feel. Am sure I will but right now it hurts!

    Thank you.
