Help! Do I have Herpes.

I need help, PLEASE HELP! About 2 days agoI had sex with a woman who informed me via text message this morning that she has HSV2. I am scared beyond measure. We did use protection but I did give her oral and she bled on the condom and there was a little blood on the base of my penis. She told me this morning that the only way I'd have it is if she had an outbreak and she says she hasn't had an outbreak in 8 years. She also says she takes the meds daily and have done so for the past 8 years. I want to know for myself but don't know what to do or where to go....please help!

    Hi,

It is untrue that you can only get herpes if you have an outbreak. People are so misinformed and that how it gets spread so easily! If she is on medication and you used protection your chances are really low at contracting it. Also, it is much easier to spread from a man to a woman, rather than from a woman to a man. The only way to be sure is to get checked and i would wait at least a month to give your body enough time to produce antibodies if you did contract it.

The chances of catching it are pretty remote if she didn't have an outbreak. The main risk would be if she had an outbreak that was very mild so she didn't even notice it herself.

It's surprising she's taking been daily acyclovir/valciclovir for that long in the absence of any outbreaks. If she is, this does reduce the risk further though.

Condoms don't provide as much protection against Herpes as you might imagine.

    Nevertheless your risk is low.

Unless you develop symptoms in the next week or so (and I don't think you will) you should be in the clear.

Best of luck to you Dave

      Hello Lisa

Actually all doctors told me that i can have sex freely if i dont have outbreak!

But i read many times that herpes can be transmitted even if no outbreak.

Tell me more about that if you dont mind

Also not true about symptoms, 85% of people with hsv do not know they have it because they will never develop symptoms. The only way to be sure is to get checked if you have been exposed. Good luck to you.

    No need to sacre now.

Calm down. That wouldnt help. I see the main problem is that this woman is not sincere. I dont believe her 100% she didnt have outbreak specially she had bleeding. Women who do sex while outbreaks always have pain and bleeding during sex. What did she tell you about bleeding? Was sex painful to her?

Anyway, you can do blood test Ig M 1 week after sex. Ig M becomes positive early and disappear in less than few weeks. While Ig G will be positive after months.

If you got herpes usually symptoms develop within one week.

Calm down and boost your immunity with healthy diet.

    Again dont believe her anymore!

When I asked her about the bleeding she said it's probably because she isn't used to my size. She said it was a little uncomfortable but not painful.

Again i dont want to scare you.

But that exactly what happened with me!!

And i got herpes from her!

But you may be lucky coz you used condom.

      Good luck

I am actually in shock that doctors are telling people this! Yes, you are more contagious when you have an outbreak but 85% of people dont have an outbreak or symptoms and still transmit it through skin to skin contact. It is called asymptomatic viral shedding. It is when the virus goes active in your body and it is very possible to not have symptoms when this happens. It sheds 10% of the time. I actually contracted this from my boyfriend who never once had a symptom or an outbreak, therefore he never knew he had it.

    Dave,

The sad truth is most of the people with hsv don't know they have it because they never have symptoms. Therefore, the majority of people with it are spreading it and not even knowing it. Also, when you go get a std panel done at your doctor, it does not include herpes testing unless you specifically ask for it. It is quite disturbing.

Keep an eye on your penis over the next couple of weeks. If you get anything that looks/feels like a small graze / sore  patch it could be a Herpes outbreak. If it happens get yourself to the clinic and get it swabbed within 48 hours. Thats the best test.

I would be surprised if you have a problem though
