Help does anyone know of a form of HRT I can take when I haven't had periods for 2 years

My dr has decided to take me off of evoril conti after having breakthrough bleeding in the first 2 months as I haven't had a period for 2 years and she wants me to stop taking it and think of taking a tablet, that makes me have periods. I don't want to take a tablet as that goes through your liver first and the patch goes through your liver after your body, I am so fed up, I've just dropped my son at uni which is totally depressing , now I've got to come off something which has been helping me and I'm so worried it's going to completely mess my body up as I haven't had period for 2 years, help anyone😟x

Why do you want to have periods? Congratulations on getting your son into University -  I'm sure you will miss him  but on the plus side now you can have some freedom/time/resources to think about yourself, new hobbies, etc etc.

Sorry if this does not sound too helpful, I just think there is more to life - if you look at it differently. Change is hard for everyone, but stopping periods and sending children to Uni are both good changes in my view!

      Hi there gillmm

I don't want to have periods at all, this is what one of the dr shave suggested and I still have a daughter at home so yes I understand what you are saying but my circumstances are different, also I list my mother last November and at the moment I feel I've had another loss, it will change I know

    Hi Louise

is this conversation a continuation  on another post from you.

we sort of said we didnt think 2 months was long to test a patch..

We cant recommend HRT thats up to you and your Gyno

if you dont want any HRT going via your liver then come off it..  ' simple'

HRT replaces Hormones and thats that...

not the same as the natural peri menopause and post menopause so there are HRT side effects which vary from woman to woman  no one can recommend HRT only your Gyno..

hope you find the answers that suit you

      Hi Louise,

i have replied to your other post in response to your reply to me.

If you have had relief from the HRT patch then make sure you say to your GP that you want one that doesn't give you a bleed and there are plenty out there. Patches are the kinder option because it doesn't go via your liver, so I said before that I think you have been put on the wrong type, you need to ask for one that will not give you a bleed, but to let you know that I believe that whilst your body is getting used to the extra hormones you may get a break through bleed and this again is normal.

Take care, and my son is going back to UNI again after a short break and like you I shall miss him too. Look at it in a very positive way that your daughter is doing something which will make her happy and will be home before you know it. Bet your so proud of her, what is she studying ?

So sorry about you loosing your Mum, I lost my Dad 19 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss him and think of him! I have a black bird that visits my garden after he passed away and not a day goes by that I don't see this black bird chirping away and I believe it's my Dad looking after me and to me this is such a comfort. Put a lovely photo up of your Mum and perhaps keep some flowers beside it to remind you that she will never be to far away from you!

It must be so much to deal with going through this horrid transition and also having to get used to not having your Mum around to ask her advice. You are so lucky to have had such a wonderful relationship with your Mum when she was a live as my Mum is as hard as nails and has never helped me only really good at putting me down and telling people that I had medical issues when I first started this journey. Not really what I wanted to hear as I started feeling I was freak and made me stay away from people in fear of what they must be thinking of me,  and it was only this forum that has made me understand that I am not and this is a natural part of our lives and together on here you will find comfort from other ladies experiences.

My Dad was my rock and still is and I talk to him all the time for his advice especially when I go walking my dogs. Loads of hugs to you sweetie and I hope one day very soon you will find the peace that you so deserve.  Joy xx

      Hi Joy

thankyou for you info about the patch, I have cut it in half at the moment as I don't think it's a good idea just to completely stop it. After I dropped my son at uni on fri, I feel like I'm losing my mind, I am in a relationship with a man that is obsessed with vodka, I still have my daughter at home but. I'm in a loveless relationship and the horrible thing is it is helping me financially, I feel really bad saying this but I feel like I'm living in limbo and I don't want anything to tie me down, I have to be a free spirit otherwise I panic, I helped my partner through his terrible divorce and because of his addiction, I have lost all respect for him, there is no romance, no love, I give up , even my patch has gone wrong, just when I though I was getting better. My partner is always picking on me all the time, when I went through my mums death, he was the same, I would just love to run away but I can't because of my daughter, my house has become dirty and full of clutter, I never ever used to be like this, maybe I should go to the dr, the worst thing is I feel so lonely, it doesn't matter what anyone says to me, I find it all too much I'm afraid

    on their info page

Its states its prescribed for women who have not had a period for over 18 months, so thats you with you saying 2 years ..

also says spotting, breakthrough bleed may happen in first few months while body adjusts..

so ... Maybe its nothing at all to worry about..

      Hiya Jay,

      How are you Hun?

Just got the leaflet out of my HRT box because I was still having periods when I was prescribed the "Evorel Sequi" and this is how it reads and what it contains.

Evorel Sequi is known as continuous sequential HRT. This is because two  hormones are used one after another:

Estradiol is used by itself for two weeks

Then estradiol and norethisterone are used together for the next two weeks.

Evorel Sequi patches replace the oestrogen that is normally released by the ovaries.

However, taking an oestrogen hormone regularly may cause the lining of your womb to build up and get thicker.

This means it is necessary to add a progesterone hormone to the oestrogen.

This helps shed the lining of the womb and stop any problems happening. Evorel Conti patches used during weeks 3 and 4 contain this progesterone. This shedding of the lining of the womb will probably give a "withdrawal bleed". This will be like having a period each month. The withdrawal bleed will start during week 4,before you finish an Evorel Sequi pack.

      Week 1 and 2

Use the four Evorel  50 patches one at a time.

      Week 3 and 4

Use the four Evorel Conti patches one at a time

As soon as you remove your Evorel 50 patch, replace with the first Evorel Conti patch.

I hope this put Louise mind at rest that perhaps this type of HRT will produce a monthly bleed.

Glad that you have managed to sort out your teeth after enduring so much pain!

Off on my hollies next week and so looking forward to recharging the batteries!

This week has been hectic with a baby shower which I went to yesterday afternoon and a Ruby Wedding Anniversary in the evening and another Ruby Wedding Anniversary to attend this afternoon. Come home for a much needed rest!

      Take care Jay
