Help for daily vulval pain...

Hi to whoever is reading...

Needing some help and advice, I feel so unbelievably low and struggling to cope with the pain.

About 6 weeks ago, I cut myself shaving down below and soon after felt a shooting pain on that side of my outer labia. Looked at the cut and it wasn't bad or deep so went about my normal weekend. Over the weekend, slept with my boyfriend a few times with no pain or differences, didn't notice the cut.

Over the next week, the pain started to get worse on the outer labia and then into the middle, just above the clitoris. Went to my GP and she said it looked a bit swollen and red so had antibiotics as she suspected a skin infection. This made it feel better over the following week but did not get rid of the pain completely so I eventually went back a couple of weeks later and was given another round of antibiotics. Before the end of the second course, I knew it was still too painful for them to be working so went back to my GP.

She has now suggested it could be nerve pain (as all types of ibuprofen/paracetamol don't do a thing). I said I was already on amitriptyline for a different reason and that was not helping my pain either! She has prescribed me pregabalin. Ive only just gone up to 50mg twice a day and I know that you can go up to much more than that eventually if side effects are ok.

My worry is I dont understand whats going on down below, why it all looks completely normal on inspection now and it still hurts so much. My pain now is mainly in the middle above the clitoris - its hard to tell where it's exactly coming from. Sometimes I feel a pressure there like I need a wee or something is pressing on my clitoris.

I feel so abnormal and dont know what to do. It is so painful and affecting every area of my life. I struggle to go out and do things and it is obviously affecting my sex life with my boyfriend...but the daily 24/7 pain is my main concern here. I have been like this for so long that I dont remember what normal feels like 😦 Being referred to a vulval clinic but what else can I do?

Has anyone had this after a cut? Is this vulvodynia now that there seems to be no identifiable infection? Cant find anyone on here with a similar problem/trigger to me.

Would love some help 😦

    i am so sorry you are experiencing this. i don't share your problem so can't advise you but you sounded so sad

    Hi,

    First, where, exactly, is your cut? Second, what did you cut yourself with? Shaving razor?

    Did it bleed alot? How long between the cut and the sex? I would stop the sex until you know what is going on. Is it oozing now? It doesn't sound like nerve pain to me. I have had that and, unless I am misunderstanding, your pain sounds like irritation and inflamed skin.
