Help for nocturnal cough due to Barretts oesphagus

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have suffered sleepless nights because of the nocturnal cough. I have tried sleeping on three pillows, a cup of warm milk with honey cider vinegar. Today  I saw the doctor and he gave me a prescription for a tablet which makes the stomach empty quick. I am pretty desperate to get a good nights sleep. I am on Omeprazole twice daily. Can anyone give me advice on how to stop the nocturnal cough

    Hi Jeanette

Have you tried your own recipe of honey lemon and ginger hot toddy! Cures most cough problems

Ingredients all need to be fresh produce

Warmest Regard and hope it helps!

Thank you for your advice. I have been at the doctors today and he has given Metocloramide so that my stomach empties quicker. I take Omeprazole twice daily but it doesn't work. I think I will try your suggestion. Thank you again.

      Best wishes Jeanette

Hi I too have Barrett's although I've never had issues with a cough my concern for you is when ? The last time you have been back for survellience if that has been within the last two years ? Then that's better for you that aside is your cough only when lying down? If so is it only on your back or on one side or the other ?

are you Making sure you are NOT eating within 3 hours before bed ? My reflux has gotten so bad I've had to take a Zantac with my omaprazole at night and again the next morning I'm not a lot of help just want to make you you watch yourself so the Barretts does not progress

    luck and health

Thank you very much for replying. I went to the doctor yesterday and he has given a tablet that empties my stomach quickly. I am reading more information about the tablet. I take Omeprazole twice daily but the oesphagitis was obviously getting worse. Last night I actually took an antacid and that helped although there is confusing information about how long you must wait before taking medication and I am looking into this. Thank you again for replying to my discussion question

I had the same experience as you and more, It took a couple of years but I went to vegetarian diet, all raw vegetables, chop them up fine like a salad and eat them. I do not have to take any prescribed pills, and have very very little effects of barretts.

Life is very normal except for the fact that I have to eat a raw vegetable diet, things could be worse.
