Me and my boyfriend of 6 years had sex last friday image(unprotected as i'm on the depo shot) since he was a child he has gotten cold sores but didn't have one at the time. Long story short, He gave me oral sex and then two days later I began to feel an unbearable itch and scratched a bit, I then noticed I had a sore of some type and it hurt so bad i couldn't even walk. At first I thought it was a yeast infection because I am prone to them, and was having cottage cheese like discharge but it keeps on getting worse. Yesterday I went to get tested and am waiting for my results. I'm so scared that this could be it and researching this has put me into a depressive state. My poor boyfriend now has a cold sore on his lip and feels terrible, but how could he have known when he hasn't had a cold sore since childhood? He didn't intentionally do this to me and it's just an all around sad situation. I had a std sti panel done but a doctor has not seen the sores yet. Can someone give me any advice?

i dont want to upset you but it looks like a classic herpes outbreak. when you got tested did they swab the sores?

unfortunately a cold sore doesnt have to be present in order for it to transfer. someone is more contagious if ones present but its still transferrable when theres not a visable sore.

best you can do is wait for the results

I've come to terms and have prepared for the worst. I appreciate your response I guess what i should ask now is best ways to help it not hurt so much? I haven't slept in days and have a terrible sore throat(yet again another sign) I heard first outbreak is the worst so hope this is it and if i ever get another they won't be as bad.

HSV is not part of a regular STI panel so its likely you will have to request a swab be done! its better and more reliable if you get it done before the sores start healing! Unfortunately this does look like herpes but you would have likely contracted HSV-1 so outbreaks will be much less than typical HSV-2 infections that are more common in the genital region.

As for the pain: over the counter meds will help, try not to scratch it, and warm sitz baths are great 😃

Update: My blood test came back positive for hsv1 meaning i've had an outbreak before possibly as a child my doctor said. I feel a bit relieved that it's type 1 and that i've made it this far into my life without it affecting me i won't have it start now. I am still awaiting my swab test, doctor did find alot of yeast and asked if i scratched myself raw and i said yes. she prescribed fluconazole and thinks it may be sores from me scratching so much, /ores didn't have any fluid which is a good sign but i'd be incredibly p****d at the possibility that I probably gave this to myself 😦

Oh I know it's that, Doctors just always give a false sense of hope because they don't want you freak out. I knew it the moment i saw it, I knew it at the doctors office and i knew it when i got my blood test result back. My sti panel came back negative for everything including yeast meaning only one thing. I'm awaiting my hsv test back but i already know the answer and have come to terms with it. I'm pretty confident that i had my first outbreak 2 years ago and was prescribed hydrocortisone cream for the "cuts" that now looking back did NOT work. Come to find out when i check my patient files the doctor at the time did not test me for hsv1/hsv2 which not to go off on a tangent but they should definitely be part of an sti/std panel, meaning i've probably been living with this for approximately 2 years, I refuse to let it bring me down now. Been with my boyfriend for 6 years so i'm almost sure he probably gave it to me during oral sex. I'll update on result, and will keep this up in order to help anyone else.
