Help getting referral through Self referral

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi everyone, i have recently been diagnosed with moderate GAD, my gp said i would recieve a letter to start group counselling or one on one Cognative therapy but havent heard anything back and that was almost 6 or so weeks ago. He did give me the website for self referral but i have no idea how to navigate the website and thought i might have a go at the forum to see if anyone can recommend any guidance?

6 weeks isnt too long to wait unfortunately in the UK, it can easily be 6 months. I've been to group before and I'd say it was a 6 month wait. I'm currently back on the list again and been told it's about 5 months wait. Ask your GP for the number of the place your actually being referred to,then just call them to see where you are on the list

I am In the UK I just started my CBT on Friday it took 8 weeks

My doctor gave me a form I had to contact the IAPT people they arranged a telephone interview and after that they agreed I needed therapy and I was put on the waiting list as I said I was on the list about 8 weeks but was told it could take up to 6 months

i understand it does take a while but not recieving any letter or reference to say im on any referral list is annoying. i was recommended IAPT southwark but told to refer through that. if its something i have to call up about then i am more than happy to do.
