Hi 47yr old male, who has had 2 lots of banding done over a 5yr period, last lot of banding 5weeks ago. Now what seems is like 4 is back again, i cannot believe this? i thought i would get at least a year rest...... I'ts depressing me the pain. They are mostly internal but noticed i can feel them if i put my finger there. So i use Lignocaine for pain, helps mostly, yesterday was bad, not today when i need BM i put it of for fear of the pain...Is there any quick way to get rid of these or least make them less painful?, I'm taking 2 sena tablets a day, with Flaxseed at night on cereal... and using the occasional Microlax if i feel constipated. Because i am on an Opiate based medication, it's not helping. But i am begining to get really depressed over this and making my life miserable and it's controlling my days i wont go for drives etc..as i hate sitting on hard seats thanks sad

    Hi Scott.

I was in your position two years ago. Although I didn't have banding I was in constant pain for three years previous so I can understand how your life is affected. I had prolapsing haemorrhoids and chronic fissures. My doc said banding isn't guaranteed to be successful. I live in the uk and had the thd procedure done at a private hospital and although it was painful to two weeks after (I mean extremely painful) it was the best decision of my life. Please look into it often the docs don't offer it first I think this is because it is expensive. I really emphasise with you as it's the most awful pain and you can't understand unless it's happening to you. Please try to stay positive as there is light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know if you live in the uk or America but in the uk I waited just 5 days for my opinion since I was paying myself as opposed to 6 months NHS. Hope everything works out for you. Take care

Thanks Colacube1, I just had awful BM again so i think i flaired them up, so i will be quick here, as i think i need to lie down again. What procedure the hemmorodecomty one?, I'm in Australia..so much like the NHS system, but long waits. If you have a toothache they pull it , Sometimes i feel the medical community doesn't look at them as serious, but they are a nightmare as you know and ruin your days you cannot do anything but lie down and dread going to the toilet..Cheers Scott.

It's a relatively new procedure called thd. Trans haemorrhoid demateralisation (I think) never have a haemorroidectomy my doc said it was an outdated painful procedure. He recommended thd as I am a woman in her early thirties and wanted to offer me something that would last. It is under general anesthetic but open is only 40 minster. They use a infrared probe to assess which internal haemorrhoids have a blood supply. They cut off the blood supply and then the haemorrhoids go away. I cost 4000.00 here but you could wait and have the procedure on the NHS. Hope this helps. Google the procedure. Take care hope today is a better day

Thanks i looked up that procedure, they don't do it here only Halo under private, and public is the cutting owch ! I brought prune juice today hoping that my diet may settle things down...... Do you think you can feel internal ones? they say due to nerves you cant, but I'm sure i can...

    Hi Scott

I think HALO is the same as THD - Just called different things in different countries.  The success rate is very high.  Try flaxseed that helps with keeping bowel movements soft and something called Movicol if they have that where you are.As for feeling internal ones - I had ones that proplapsed when going to the toilet - I had to push them back.  Sorry not very nice to hear!!! I would then be in chronic pain for up to 4 hours afterwards.  I believe you can feel them internally,
