HELP: Hemorrhoidectomy-1 Week Post Op

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello all,

I recently had a hemorrhoidectomy last Thursday. Today makes one week. My pain is similar to a rollercoaster; up & down. Especially after a bowel movement. I'm really anxious to get back to work after two weeks, but close to the one week mark starting yesterday, I had some stinging during a bowel movement, not out of the rectum, but where the stitches are. That wasn't a problem for me before, and I was wondering could it be because of the stitches dissolving or does that have nothing to do with it? Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me. I need some type of relief here. I'm worried. Thanks!!

I'm sorry you're struggling. I've only had intense pain with each trip to the bathroom, so I can't supply much help except to try to reassure you that even pretty severe pain is common and to let you know someone is listening and cares.

I just went to the ER for the second time, this time for sudden blood loss, and the surgeons found even the blood loss acceptable after running some tests to make sure it wasn't arterial. I mention this because I know how hard it is to read the articles on the www and try to figure out if you're in danger. I wanted to provide a really extreme comparison and the feedback from my medical team so that maybe you can calibrate your experience. This surgery is the most painful thing I've experienced. Even natural childbirth came to an end after 12 hours. I'm going on a week of similar pain around toileting.

I hope this is reassuring in a strange sisters in misery sort of way. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I have hit my 1 week mark today and am going back to work tomorrow. it does get better I promise my first bowel movement was 5 days in (5 days of not being able to have a BM mentally broke me I literally cried cause the back up was causing so much discomfort more than the pain from surgery) after trying multiple times and failing on day 5 I noticed a lot of my stitching was coming out in my sitz bath and underwear on day 6 I finally had a bowel movement and some serious stinging afterwards I napped through the pain and woke to find the last of my stitches gone. bowel movements since the loss of my stitches have been a breeze I am in so much less pain than I was with my hemmerhoids I had 4 stage 4 monsters 2 internal 2 external. hang in there and don't scare yourself like I did reading these forums there are so many horror stories so I am trying to bring hope that there is hope and it does get better on day 3 of my recovery I was willing to die rather than tolerate the pain anymore. I am now on day 7 and more than excited to return to work and get my life back this will all be worth it the pain will end the stinging is normal... tucks right after your movement followed by a sitz bath was my saving grace id highly recommended I hope you get better soon!
