Help!!! I get really swollen red streamy eyes when I go on nights out! I don’t know what to do

Hi everyone! I'm currently on my Erasmus year abroad in Spain and I've encountered a bit of a problem when I go on a night out - my eyes become extremely swollen, watery and very uncomfortable (pics attached). I have put this down to the cigarette smoke i come into contact with - as my friends here often smoke indoors in eachothers houses and often i am in the same room as them. I'm almost certain its not what I'm drinking as I drink the same vodka and cranberry juice here that i do at home in ireland - and this has never happened at home before (even over christmas when i was home). This doesnt happen every single night out but it seems to happen on the nights when people do smoke inside - being around people smoking outside isnt as big a problem ( less of a confined space i suppose). I've tried to prevent this by taking antihistamine tablets as well as anti histamine eye drops before I go out but it just doesnt seem to work!! **Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this or how I can prevent this from happening. **It causes such discomfort that i often have to go home early before the night has even begun...... PLEASE HELP

Have you stared using a new make up? Maybe it's an allergy to that. Failing that you could take some dry eye drops with you and put them in before you start partying and a few times through the night to help keep them moist. Maybe a visit to your optician is on the cards.

Thank you so much for the reply! Hmmmm I don't think its the make up as I wear the same makeup everyday and this doesnt happen. Do you think dry eye drops would help because my eyes actually stream a lot of tears when this happens so i dont know if they need any more moisture!!

I think you are right...its the cigarette smoke.I know its not easy but you will have to explain to your friends that your eyes react badly to the smoke. If they really are your friends they should understand.I was going to suggest it could be your eye make up as well. Your streaming eyes are your body's reaction to the smoke....trying to wash all those tiny smoke particles away.
