Oh Linda, what a shock. Have you read the thread 'An Experiment with Borax?' After two years of working out what works and what doesn't, I'm gradually seeing bits of me reappear. It's tiny, but hopeful. A seam where there was smooth skin before, some definition where there wasn't any. Do try it. I put a pinch in a spray bottle and use after every toilet visit, then moisturise. I rarely use steroid. Every now and again I'll have a three or four week burst and stop the borax, maybe two or three times a year. Some people have had this happen from bicarbonate of soda. Read the threads, it's not a cure, but it is hopeful. For me the itch stopped instantly at the first spray. It took me ages to trust enough to even try it, it's a bit off-piste, but I'm so glad I did. After all the doctors haven't got anything better to suggest, have they?

Yes, I feel like myself included have all become experimentalist. How long have you been working on this diagnosis Bridge? Today I am more irritated than yesterday...not sure which thing has made it unhappy, that is the frustration. Seems to have its own mind for sure... I don't really have much itch, again what do you do when you get an itch and then it doesn't happen again.. Not using the Clob today, it may be adding to the issue..

      Hi Linda

First let me say that I'm a bit sporadic on here, My computer is in an open plan space and I have to respond when I can get privacy. In the school holidays that's rare, so If I don't respond, it's not because I don't want to or am ignoring you!

I was diagnosed nearly eight years ago, and was totally white and shrinking badly. I used the steroid as prescribed until about two years ago, it returned 90% of the white to pink and slowed everything else down. Then I found the borax gave me really good results. I was on yearly visits to a specialist, but after finding the borax, they said I'd improved so much they didn't need to see me any more (I didn't tell them why). I'd had a very mixed experience with the specialists and never saw the same one twice. I had an amazing doctor for a while, Spanish, who was a skin specialist and saw a lot of LS. She was really impressed with the results (I did tell her) and said she'd tell her other ladies with LS. I just tried to make an appointment with her and she's left the practice. I don't know where she's gone. I'm devastated. When I first used the borax there was a dramatic improvement for the first few (maybe three?) months, then it plateaued. I've kept on using it because it keeps the itch away. Two years later I've noticed that actually changes are really noticeable now. My urethra was completely invisible, now I can see it clearly, and there are clear seams where before I couldn't tell where one bit ended and another bit started. I don't take photographs because I don't know how to stop them going onto the cloud and my kids use my phone too. I took some at the start when i had a different phone, so I've got something to compare my progress against.

I can mostly ignore LS as long as I use my spray bottle and some oil after every toilet visit. We are about to plumb in a shattaf shower (bidet hose) into the bathroom, which will help. I just need my husband to get round to it, and find out where to get the special valve. It feels a much cleaner way to do things anyway.

Give it a go, what's to lose? If it doesn't work for you, you stop doing it. It's not a magic bullet, but I've found that it does help. And what helps most of all is not feeling so helpless...
