Help! I think I've got paraphimosis!

I am 17 and male. I have a conservative family who never taught me to clean under my foreskin and I just learnt how to around 6 months or so ago. I checked to see if I could pull my foreskin back normally and I could, so then I didn't have phimosis. I started cleaning under my foreskin regularly from then onwards. I masturbate quite regularly as well. However, I met with an accident very recently, where I obtained superficial burns from scalding on mainly my thighs and scrotum and a very tiny burn on the tip of my foreskin. I was rushed to the ER and they told me everything would be fine. I was injured and due to my emotions at that time I masturbated 2 or 3 times in a few days and everything seemed normal. However, after a day or so, I was able to walk and get up more comfortably, so I decided to clean under my foreskin. Unfortunately it seemed my cum had dried? I do not know whether it was smegma or dried cum, however, with a little effort I was able to pull back my foreskin all the way and cleaned off the smegma. However the next day I tried to clean again, but now I am finding it impossible to retract my foreskin, and I do not know why! The smegma substance was a bit at the tip which I believe is why I can not pull it back. Do I have paraphimosis!? How did this all change in one day??? I really want to avoid circumcision at all costs please help me!

Reading your description, that sounds like acquired phimosis rather than paraphimosis. Paraphimosis is when you have pulled back the foreskin and can't return it back to normal position to cover your penis again.

      Hey David,

Thanks so much for the reply! Can you please advise me on how to proceed? Should i see an urologist?

My advice would be to chill as much as you can about this - you do not say how recent the accident was?

You need to be thinking about the longer term, say, have a goal of getting things back to the way they used to be for your penis in 9 months to a year.

David has made some really useful comments - I would say try to give your penis as much rest as possible, and certainly, if you abstain from masturbating for as long as you can now this may pay dividends for you later in life.

Yes, you may have something a specialist will need to help you with, say, towards then end of this year - but in the mean time try to gentle with your penis and give it a break for as long as you can ....

Sorry the accident happened on the 13th of Feb, and doctors have said all my burns including the one on the tip of my foreskin should heal fast and fully, and it seems they already are. I'm seeing a urologist tomorrow and hopefully everything will be OK, or at least no need for a circumcision. I'll try my best to abstain from masturbating as you said. Thank you for your response!
