Help identifying papules on glans

I would really appreciate help in identifying papules on my glans.

I first noticed the papules about 15 months ago at the same time as a started experiencing a dull pain in the area. They seem to be relatively stable since, and I occasionally feel that same pain.

I consulted a dermatologist about this problem and she did not seem to recognize it. She called it "normal skin variation," but was noncommittal when I asked how sure she was. However, at that same visit, she diagnosed four small warts on the shaft of the penis as HPV, even though I got the HPV vaccine when I was a kid. I have been under treatment for those warts for several months and am seeing slow progress. The warts on the shaft are almost gone.

I used to be somewhat sexually active before noticing this condition and have always practiced safe sex except during oral sex.

The possibility that this condition might be contagious weighs on me anytime I think about being with a partner. Combined with the fact that I know I had HPV, the permanence of these bumps is scary. Knowing for certain whether or not it is a contagious condition like HPV would help me deal with anxiety from uncertainty. I am still young, so I need to be able to plan my life either way.

I would really appreciate opinions on a diagnosis or learning about other people with similar conditions.

it appears normal to me, we all have different skin types, and the older we get the more lumps and bumps we get

Thank you! I hope it's just from getting older. I appreciate you taking the time.

Agree, these are normal skin variation - and they are most likely Pearly Penile Papules (PPP) - although that is fairly certainly there is no exact way of telling them from what other potentials they are, that is why the Dermatologist was non-committal

Thank you for your suggestion. I looked into PPP a while ago, and it seemed like those papules are confined to the corona, pearly white, and regular in size. Another difference from what I read about PPP is that my papules ache, and from what I can tell PPP is painless. But I certainly hope they are PPP because that would mean they are not contagious!

I read a couple of your comments on other threads about irritation. Does this look like any irritation you have seen before?

Either way, thank you very much for your help on this thread and for your responses to other people in this community. It is lucky that there are kind people like you as voices of reason who are willing to take the time. Wishing you the best.

      • What you have have the NORMAL appearance for NORMAL PPP that are ALSO often found on the glans itself - if you do online searches for images of PPP it can be difficult find images showing them being on the glans. This is simply because PPP are MORE often confined to the corona / rim, but this is NOT the ONLY location at which they appear on the penis
      • yes, PPP is painless, if you have the sensation of pain it may seem that it is obvious where the location, or even cause is. location and actual source can be two entirely separate things
      • you would need to get this checked with a Urologist

      • you do not have the typical symptoms of irritation. The simple thing you can do is limit contact for this area of your penis to WATER only

      • Thank you for your comments: I have been on this Forum for more than 3 years now. Unfortunately I will likely need to take on major Care responsibilities for a member of my family in the next few weeks, so my opportunities to have ANY further involvement on here are going to be extremely limited for the foreseeable future.
      • However, I will respond, when I can
