Help Interpret Please. 21 YR in the Military

Hello everyone, after nervously waiting for a couple weeks to get my blood work in I’ve finally got it!

However, I won’t be speaking with my doctor until sometime in August, so I am hoping I can get some thoughts, and opinions here on the forum to help me interpret this.

I got a decent amount of blood work done, and I will post EVERYTHING they have given me back.

As a side note, I originally went to see my current doctor for severe Depression, Anxiety, major insomnia issues, sex drive, weight gain, and seeming to be losing strength out of no where, and after months of trying out different medications, and no success my doctor said “Screw it lets do some blood work.”.

Testosterone numbers are not good for a 21y/o. You need LH, FSH, prolactin, SHBG, DHEA-S, IGF-1 and estradiol testing.

Thank you, I’m hoping with these number my GP will refer me to a specialist. I’m a little worried that you say its low, I know some doctors would probably consider this “normal”, but is it really? I constantly feel like s**t and have no drive to do anything but sit at home and sleep. I never really feel happy anymore, my happiest time in life was in highschool when I could lift weights and get sexually aroused at a seconds notice. I now have to struggle to keep a solid erection, sorry for the vulgarness but the second I dont have hard physical stimulation on my genitals it goes flat. I cant think of my partner in my head and then get hard, like how I used to be able to in highschool. I don’t have sex drive almost at all, if I do its random and on my own time. My partner has a hard time turning me, even though she is what I consider incredibly attractive.

My doctor I’m seeing now is just a military psychiatrist so I’m not going to be surprised if she has much knowledge on the subject. I hope she realizes that I’m possibly deficient in test, and sends me to a specialist like stated previously. I’ve gained so much weight in the last year and a half not good weight.

With your testosterone being low you are going to have anxiety like you are going through male menopause in your 50s.  It is what makes you feel like yourself more manly. Sometimes stress, extreme physical exercise can deplete one's hormones or you might have a thyroid issue even though your numbers look ok. It might be a good idea to have a thyroid scan. I'd talk to your mom and dad and see what is in your family history medical wise. See if anyone else in the family has had these weird symptoms. Have someone looks at your Neutrophils and Lympocytes numbers. I don't have a medical degree but after my estrogen dropped I had a lot of infections including strep b for a long time and those numbers are what tell you if you have an infection trying to start up.

You will gain weight if your testosterone is down but on the flip side if you are overweight your testosterone can go down. If I were you I would go see an endocrinologist. Having low testosterone can have long term effects on your body, your bones, your mental well being, sperm count and quality. Losing one's sexuality is not acceptable whether one is 21 or 70.

Am I reading you got a shot of testosterone. I had to look up the word you use because I didn't recognize the word. Some people are highly sensitive to hormone adjustments. It might be better to slowly move up in dosages. If you have a compounding lab near you they are more knowledgeable. I am highly sensitive to dosages so too low means I can't get out of bed or have the will to live but too much makes me speedy(not my normal) and a little too "friendly".

You really need to get to a specialist and even though your therapist might not know anything about hormones he or she might be able to direct you to where to go. I know you don't have much control over what you eat in the military but when you can eat grass fed beef or other red meats.

While wait for the medical care to kick in look up foods that boost testosterone naturally. It includes foods and spice/herbs. Believe me they can take the edge off. I eat foods that boost estrogen naturally. While it doesn't totally heal me it does help. Good luck.

I have a husband who went through same problems for a couple of years with dr trying antidepressants which either did not work or he had a bad reaction to.  Finally his dr had an epiphany and checked his Vit B12 - it was extremely low.  A deficiency in Vit B12 causes neurological problems.  After 2 injections a week apart, he came home humming, went into his shed and started doing something.

After a few weekly shots, he advanced to monthly and now every 3 months.  His whole demeanor changed for the better, he felt physically stronger.  I can tell when he is due for his next injection.  Some people cannot absorb Vit B12 from their food nor tablets.  Enzyme injections are the only substance that works.

Also increase your Vit D3 by getting a good practitioner's brand of Vit D3 forte drops.  Have 4-6 a day.  I cannot absorb Vit D by tablets and the drops worked immediately according to follow up blood tests.

Your dr has not done Iron Studies - these should be the first tests to be done.  They are a window to a lot of health issues.  If ferritin and TS% is high you might have haemochromatosis.  Haemochromatosis is a hormone thief and reduces libido and causes ED.  It also causes fatigue, weakness, aching body, depression, etc. etc.

Unless you went into the military as a baby, you have to be more than 21 as someone has thought.  So you will be at an age where haemochromatosis catches up with males, if they have inherited the genes from their parents who could be oblivious to it.

Both my husband and I have haemochromatosis so I have a lot of knowledge and experience with it.

Let us know how you go.
