Help - is my blood pressure too low??

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi all

I suffer with severe health anxiety which has just been made worse at a new patient check at the doctor.

My blood pressure has been checked a few times in the last month and it has either always been near 120/80 or just slightly over or under. Today it is 104/74. This seems too low to me? And why has it reduced so much? I get dizzy but I’ve had dizziness for months with my anxiety when my blood pressure was higher.

Please reassure me.

Thank you

It’s actually really good.  Anything over 90 is considered normal.  Once you start getting into the low 90’s you may want to start looking at ways to get it a bit higher.  100-120 is totally fine no need to worry.

Even if it was just over 120 a month ago? At this point I was very anxious though and today I wasn’t

Blood pressure is something that is constantly changing based on your movement, what you eat, how you’re feeling that day, how much sleep you had the night before, etc.  You should focus on it being within a normal range because you can take it ten minutes later and it may have been higher closer to 120/80.

I hadn’t drank hardly anything yesterday, just two cups of tea, and I also was really tired as haven’t slept well for a few nights due to my anxiety. Prior to finding out my reading I did get a couple of different dizzy spells in the morning. I want to go and get it checked again today to see if the systolic has gone up at all as I am worried it’s just decreasing sad

Thank you for your help and reassurance

It’s always a good idea to go get checked out for sure.  I have really bad anxiety especially when it comes to health so I definitely can relate.   You can buy the blood pressure machine so you can check at home as well but just be careful people like you and I tend to be too concerned about it and constantly checking which can cause it to get too high from being stressed about it.  Good luck to you Hannah.

      Thank you.

I am going to the pharmacy after work just to ask them and to get them to check it for peace of mind.
