Help! Just been diagnosed with a cyst with estimated 4l volume!

I'm 39 and just had an ultrasound confirming a cyst with an estimated volume of 4l (?!) from my right ovary extending into my abdomen, a small cyst on my left ovary and a small kidney cyst. The last two are presumed normal. I look as though I'm 9months pregnant. I'm waiting on a ct and consultant appointment which I know was being sent out 2 hrs after referral. I'm have no symptoms other than giant belly and discomfort where organs are being squished and my bloods including CA125 are normal. I can't seem to get my head round this 4l thing, they didn't have any other measurements and I can't figure out if this is unusually large or what it means for surgery. Can anyone help ?

wow. huge ... you are one tough woman. the weight alone! how have you survived?

surely they will drain it off then remove so it doesnt return?

That's what I am hoping but don't know until the ct if that's possible.  I thought I basically hadn't been able to shift my baby weight after my daughter was born 6 years ago and then put on some more. It wouldn't shift no matter what I did. I've have back pain intermittently but it's only the past 10 months that it has been getting more uncomfortable.

I had a 37cm cyst removed last June. The Dr said it was bigger than a basketball.I also had a 3 cm on the other ovary. My ca 125 was elevated.Mine was not cancer. CT scan said suspected cancer. I went to my doc in 2012 for bleeding and several times since before he sent me to a gyno oncologist. Ilost 30 lbs from the surgery and I feel great.they gave me a epidural had no pain at all from surgery. You are going to feel great too and will feel so much better getting rid of that huge cyst.keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Glad you are feeling better! Were they able to do keyhole surgery and how long did you have to wait from your ct to surgery?

Hi I sound like I am going through pretty much what you have been through....I was told I had a 18cm cyst on my right ovary from an ultrasound and a very high ca125 level...had a CT scan last Thursday and am now waiting very nervously for the results...I am 47 and put my few irregular periods down to being perimenopausal...I only got symptoms of the cyst a couple of weeks ago when I thought I had a virus....I felt generally unwell with flu like symptoms...started getting pressure down below and needing to wee a lot then got my period on top of that which gave me bad pains in my pelvis and side...Dr treated me for a UTI but obviously it wasn't that...saw gynaechologist last Tuesday who said the bloods are pointing to think it's cancer but hadn't had my CT at that time....she said I have been referred to Liverpool women's hospital and I will be seen within 1 to 2 weeks....she said I will be having everything removed and it will be major surgery but I am treatable....I just can't get my head around it and have been unable to eat and just feel so worried and sick....I am so glad you are treated and on the mend....to hear that gives me some hope x

I had hernias from a previous surgery that needed to be fixed .I was 63 and didnt want anymore surgeries so i had everythng taken out . i had  the other small cyst growing too and didnt want to worry about cancer again either. They usually cant do keyhole with it that big.We have a shortage of gyno oncologist in my state so i had to wait about two months for surgery.Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
