Help me.

I'm an 18 year old "athletic" male. In high school I wrestled and played football. This is now my 3rd post sadly. I know Google and the Internet as a whole is bad for anxiety but I cease to believe they my physical symptoms are anxiety induced.

In December. I started getting some awful chest and neck pain on the left side. Whenever I yawned my muscles would tense up for a second before relaxing again. I started to get a dull ache in my elbow and left knee. I was then seen by my GP and given muscle relaxants.

Couple weeks later. I noticed my thigh beginning to twitch. At this point I was Googling all sorts of things because the pain was just getting worse. I came across ALS as a muscle disease and that got stuck into my head which sent me right back to my GP. He diagnosed me with BFS and sent me to a nerve specialist. The nerve specialist didn't perform any test. He only checked my reflexes and said I was fine. Everybody disregarded my concern of ALS because of my young age.

Since then I've been getting sharp lower back pain and now I am constipated. Only being able to pass small pebbles throughout the day for 3 days now

I saw my GP today again for it and was told nothing of it, again.. I've been told i have anxiety but it's hard to believe because everyone. Including my families doctor. Says I'm too laid back to have anxiety. And anxiety pain would get better, not worse. Here are some test that they've done which have come back normal or negative.

MRI of head and neck

CBC's

Vitamin D

Lyme disease

X-ray of chest

EKG

Urine and stool

Reflexes

Everything has been coming out normal. I'm in a lot of pain and over the counter medicine has not been working and I have not been giving anything other than anxiety medicine which gives me head aches.

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there with any kind words of advice. The doctors aren't helping me out. Ive been feeling ill for so long I can only expect the worse if they ever find anything wrong with me. Im so paranoid, I even got myself believing I have skin cancer. Or any sort of cancer for that matter. I hear bone cancer is common in young adults.

I'm not sure who to turn to. When all of my test and everyone around me keeps saying I'm "healthy" but I've never felt so sick/weak in my life.

Anxiety can produce terrible symptoms as u worry more develop. If all tests clear which you say yours are, try accept and relax a little by distractions ,it won't happen overnight but will given time and rest.

Could this be something like an undetected cancer you think? Should I give it time like you said or push my doctors for more test?

I really dont think it's cancer, but if it puts your mind at ease, maybe consider getting more tests done. It takes a long time to accept anxiety. Again, PM me if you need anything.

Good luck and all the best!

Your gonna have to relax and know it's going to be fine.I had the same problems at a earlier age that you and thought I wouldn't make it.It started when I was 14,I was a high school baseball star pitcher. It didn't stop until I was 22,what happened is I got very busy and interested In my job,I had kids and before you know it I didn't have anxiety or pains, matter of fact I was in better shape at 38 than I was at 20.I am 42 now and at 41 it hit again, but I know how to battle it. Believe me when I tell you alot is in your head, but your going to have pains,I have every day.My advise is to see your doctors, but take your health as serious as you can.Try to stop eating fast food, try to drink alot of water,it helps I promise. And don't do any illegal drugs, some people can do drugs 1 time, and it messes them up.Stay positive and busy.Exercise and lift weights. It helped me alot.

This seems like health anxiety, I have it. Google is terrible for this.

Do you have a history of anxiety issues or is this new?

I never worried about anything until I started feeling sick. So new

Thank you so much, I will be PMing you! I just don't get why the symptoms are so hard on my body.. It doesn't seem like it's anxiety. I constantly think it's a cancer of some sort.

Could be health anxiety you have checked a lot of things. I am wondering is your bed comfortable? I say this because my older daughter had pains and off symptoms for a while we went to the dr. and happily her scans were clear but the pains stayed for a few weeks until one day i decieded maybe it was her mattress. Impingement or her position but related to her mattress...i got  her a comfortable new mattress. Sounds simple? She was all better within days. sleep poisitions, pillow heights, the actual mattress can all cause issues on the body.

You could have your doctor check your blood to check for vitamin deficiencies or irregulr thyroid.

Yes I have been checked for thyroid and vitamin deficiency, everything checked out normal. I'm scared its some kind of underlying illness.

I tried PM you but I couldn't figure out how. My symptoms never really go away. If it was anxiety shouldn't they subside. Could it be ALS? I just want answers..

The PM button is the envelope on the left right under the star and number beside my username.

I really doubt it's ALS, some people have anxiety all the time, especially if you think about it.

try to send me a PM
