help me please because my doctors won't listen to me.

My doctors are insisting it's PF again but I know it's not and they won't investigate any further.

6 years ago I suffered with plantar fasciitis with physio and stretches and strapping shoes ect I recovered. It flares up every now and then but I've been managing it.

For the last 6 months or so my feet and ankles have been in agony. Now the pain is rising up my legs towards my knees. The pain is right inside my ankles along the edge of my feet and within my heel ( I do believe the heel part is PF but I think I have another issue too). When I'm walking it feels like from ankle down my feet are crumbling and burning and when I'm resting they are cramping and burning the pain keeps me awake and wakes me up. I keep getting bruises appear around my ankles and along the outside of the bottom of my foot near the heel. I haven't banged them or anything to get the bruises. I'm now getting cramping and tingling up my calf muscles.

I have been reading up and my symptoms also suggest a back problem with my L5 and S1 compressing causing my issue but my doctor won't listen to me just says it's PF and I'm to wait to see the physio again. He won't refer me to anyone else and if I see a different doctor in the pratice they just say I'm to go and see him as he is the joint and bone specialist within the pratice.

All short of changing pratice I don't know what to do its not really an A&E issue and they are already over stretched.

Any advice please or does anyone think I'm wrong and my doctor is right?

You need to see the physio and ask to be referred to a podiatrist for proper assessment. You are entitled to a second opinion from a specialist. If they refuse it is time to change practice. I don't know why people are afraid to do this. It is so easy. You just go to the surgery of your choice (with your medical card or not if you can't find it UK) and ask to change. You do not even have to give your reasons. Good luck. I saw a podiatrist and as a result was diagnosed as requiring surgery to correct several problems and referred to an orthopaedic surgeon. 1options down 1 to go

Are you in the UK? Sounds like you need to push to see a MATs doctor and get a scan? i'm not a doctor, but i'm pretty sure an MRI is the only thing that can conclusively diagnose what's actually going on inside your leg

Poor you, yes it sounds like something more, do seek another opinion. If the swelling came after a sudden increase in activity I think it's possible to get a stress fracture. My mum got one from dancing on a carpet in someone's front room.

If so then a and e might offer advice , or at least an x Ray. Some places offer a nurse practitioner so you might get further opinion from there.

Thank you for ur replies. Sorry I haven't replied before now.

I am changing pratice as they are still refusing to investigate further which is frustrating me more since for the last 3 nights when I lay in bed I get a tingling in my shoulders and arms then they go numb from shoulder to elbow the same feeling you get when you sit on ur foot wrong then can't stand up. I'm in bed now and can feel it already.

I can't believe the doctors won't do anything other than wait for physio which is an 8-12 month waiting list.

I an going to go to A&E I can't cope any more.

Hello, wow, that sounds so stressful. Doctors are not healers in my experience.   A general practicioner should be just a referrel service to get you where you need to be.  Keep pushing; you know your own body best. I am investigating CRPD, Complex regional pain syndrome at the moment to try and explain the long term stabbing burning pain in my left heel.  But I do not listen to doctors or physios much.  They are quite limited.  I spend a lot of time doing my own medical research.  If your dr. does not support you, find another dr, or push hard for what you need.  Kind regards, Heidi
