HELP! My mum Shingles wound not healing because of diabetes!

Posted , 4 users are following.

My mum is 60 years old and her Disbetes was unstable before she got the shingles and it's been like that for years because she's allergic to all the pills and didn't want to start injections. Anyway it's been 4 weeks and her shingles wound isn't healing she's been to many dermatologists and the last one told her not to come anymore because she's not healing from the creams and pills and to go to a diabetic surgeon.

Please everyone help us understand this ? What shall we do now?  Is her diabetes slowing the healing process? Or is this the way shingles acts? And how to make my mum heal and the wounds not get worse ?

    Dear Saroshka,

I am sorry this is happening to your Mom. While I understand the fear of injections, the insulin needles now are so tiny, you barely feel the injection. I had to inject heparin into my abdomen for blood clots, and I barely felt it. The shingles hurt far more than the tiny shots did. I get recurrent Shingles in my right ear.

I would suggest to your mom to give herself a little pinch in the stomach. If she can stand doing that, she can stand getting insulin shots. The diabetes is slowing down your Mom's healing from Shingles. The high blood sugar is also ruining your Mom's kidneys, heart, feet, and eyes.

    Merry Juliana

    Hello

Don’t worry!  Shingles do repeat!  Did she take anti viral before 72 hours?  My mom is also diabetic and she healed!  Go to a diabetic specialist if they do t healed and they can help her!

Shingles takes times and not everyone heals at the same pace!  I had shingles I. February and after it was gone,  I got a little blister and it was on my scalp too

    She has to be calm!
