Help....my scs is coming out!

Hi, I just  Had a Medtronic neurostulator pit in my back about 6 weeks ago. Still having quite a bit of pain in lower back, some days are ok. Seems like it's been worse lately. Well, that may be my fault.  I'm a little worried and had a few questions I wondered if anyone could help with. I just noticed yesterday that I can feel my battery pack through my skin.  When you rub softly you can feel it, and you can also grab it some and squish it.  Is this normal?  I was never able to feel it protruding before. And do the leads move really easily, or do you have to really mess it up to shift them.  I ask because I seem to be having more pain in my back than I did in beginning, but I have done a few things I probably shouldn't have.  My husband has brain cancer and just recently lost most of his mobility on his right side.  So, we were taking a trip to Duke Cancer Center in NC.  Well, he is using a walker so can't help much and bags had to be brought in so I lifted and carried a few bags that were over 5 lbs.  And have had to bend to get stuff when he drops it. I have no other option. I just pray I didn't mess up my sns by doing that.  I just became worried when I could actually feel it and feel the shape of it literally through my skin, and because I've been hurting a little more.  We are still out of state at cancer place and I can't get back home to see my doc for another 2 weeks.  Has anyone else experienced it protruding or worse pain later on weeks after surgery?

Hey TayTay. I have had my scs for 8 months now. Like you I can feel my battery on the outside. It does feel kinda funky but I take a 4" piece of gauze pad fold in half and tape it right over the incision. It takes away the funky feeling. It's at the waist area.  I too notice that if I do too much physical movement I get sharp pains at the battery site but if I ice it for about 20 minutes that seems to work.

I am sorry for your troubles. I wish you well

Thank you so very much for your help. I'm glad to know this is normal. They didn't tell me about that part, so I was worried. Have tried the gauze and ice, and it has been helpful. Thank you again for relieving my mind. Best of luck to you on your journey. Being 8 months out, are you still glad you had it done? Have you healed pretty Well? Have you had any other problems?

I got a staff infection about a month after I got the permanent one put in and spent a week in Brigham and Women's in Boston but it cleared after that and they were able to leave it in.  I still need meds but overall I'm pretty glad I did it. I wii make an appointment to have it adjusted soon
