    Hi Felicia

first step is to go and see your doctor. ECG's especially just sitting or laying down are not always that accurate anyway. The best are the 'stress test ' one where you are on a treadmiĺl. It is unusual for a person your age to have heart disease, so it could be anxiety?

I am 60 years old and do have heart disease and have had a triple bypass 4 years ago, and doing well now. Anyway the symptoms you describe can be frightening for you, so without being too anxious i would be persistant and have a full and proper investigation, if only to put your mind at rest. Try calmly explaining this to a parent, trusted adult family member or your family doctor.Do you have any family members with heart conditions?

Good luck and hopefuĺly you will be fine as it is very unusual (but not impossible) for a person your age with no poor family heart health history to have major problems. I have two cousins in the UK that also have what i have and have also had bypass operations in their mid 50's though!

Thank you so scared. my cozen was born with something wrong with his heart he past away and he was only 12 but other than that no have you ever heard of such thing as what I described just thinking something wrong with my heart scares me sorry about your heart problems

      Hi again Felicia

sorry to hear about your cousin, but his or het condition would have probably been picked up at birth?

You seem to have been fine until recently, so as i said it is unlikely you have anything major wrong. I have a son, now 30 who when he was a teenager was convinced he had stomach cancer as he often had bad stomach pains. I took him to a doctor then a specialist who found he was lactose intolerant and cannot have milk or products made from milk. Once he stopped he has been fine ever since, although in summer he sometimes craves icecream and has one and is sick for about 4 hours after lol!

There are probably a number of minor conditions that could mimic the symptoms you described, so please DO go and get a full and proper checkup. Make sure you come across calm and sensible so the docs dont think your just some crazy teenager!

      Cheers, Timo

    Felicia

Firstly, problems don't always show up at birth, I have a heart defect I didn't know

I had until I was 40 yo.  I am 61 now and have more than my share of problems

thanks to no one advising me to get my defect corrected. What was wrong with

your cousin that caused him to die at 12?  The reason I ask is because some

defects can run in families.  Rest assured you most definitely don't have any

blockages in your coronary arteries, which is one of the most prevalent reasons for

a heart attack, at least in the USA anyway.  It takes many years for blockages to

develop in those arteries, but you should be evaluated to make sure there isn't some other reason why you're experiencing these symptoms.  I hope someone

takes your concerns seriously.  Anxiety alone will make a person feel just dreadful.

I know I had it for a while before I found out what was wrong with me.

thank you and I don't know what it was I forgot and yeah I just feel like no one is taking it seriously and they say your fine and I have a question I poped my knee out about 3 years ago and it sealing up and kinda hurts I'm freaking out because the say that heart failure you can get swallen legs or feet is it normal or no

I think you're getting way ahead of yourself here.  Yes, you can get swollen

legs or feet with heart failure, but by that time you would also have very

noticeable shortness of breath with exertion or at rest.  When a person suffers from heart failure, they usually have more than just swollen feet or legs and a cardiologist will pick up on this real quick.  I had heart failure

when I was in my 40s, but with rest and medicine I improved quite a bit,

but now at  61 my heart valves are taking a beating because of my longstanding congenital heart defect that went untreated for so long.  You

are very young which is a good thing, because chances are there is nothing really seriously wrong with you.  It would be very rare at your age.

But you do need to be reassured, because you shouldn't be worrying like

this, you should be enjoying  your life.  I have a granddaughter close to your age, she plays soccer and has a very busy life.  Other than the occassional cold or other minor illness she is a healthy young lady.  I was

not healthy as a child, but no one really noticed, but me.  I worried all the

time that I was going to die.  Looking back now I wish I hadn't worried so

much.  It takes too much energy, it really drained me.  I want to enjoy life,

I do not want to worry anymore.   Worrying doesn't get you anywhere.  Any other questions, please feel free to ask, I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.

I was working at the time in my job as letter carrier for the postal service, I started to

notice I couldn't even walk to someone's door with a parcel without severe shortness

of breath.  But I should add that I had had a heart attack 3 years before this occured,

but didn't even know that it had occured because I was initially told I'd had a virus,

only to find out much later that I had infact had a heart attack.   I was not even aware at this time that I had a birth defect.  I ended up retiring from this job and

I have been receiving disibility ever since.  If it weren't for the disibility payments I

wouldn't have any health insurance either..  Why do you not have health insurance?  Don't your parents have health insurance?

Oh wow sorry my dad does but that's it because its a lot of money

You should be able to get assistance.  Its unheard of for a child not to be covered

under some insurance plan.  Here in the US there are plans that are not that expensive.
