Help or reassurance from others please

Quick background, was off all meds for about 6 months and then got extreme anxiety and panic attacks back. Went to my doctor and he put me on Zoloft 50mg. It absolutely rocked me that first week and I had to fly overseas in a week so he put it back to 25mg.

Went overseas and had the usual symptoms of no appetite, insomnia, and heightened anxiety and tiredness drymouth and sore legs reflux and indigestion. During the 2nd week it got better but after coming home he upped my dose to 50mg again.

I am now just in week 4 of 50mg and have had sore/stiff legs all the time, my anxiety is through the roof, no appetite at all, tiredness, feel really weak, can’t exercise without feeling like I will faint, random muscle pains through my body, muscle twitches, tingles in places and then have had a massive stressful life changing event happen last week and now I get cold hands and feet all the time and heavy and tingly  sensations in my forehead not a headache.

My anxiety trigger is health issues so as you can imagine I am freaking out. Have been back to the dr and he just says that can happen and to give it more time. It feels like I am ticking off nearly every side effect known.

Has anyone experienced side effects like these at all?????

Will add anymore that I remember when I do.

At 4 weeks I was right in the worst side effects stage. Unfortunately carried on into 5th week but then .... wham ... they started easing off one by one. Now in 7th week and none at all. Try and hang in there. You’re nearly there 😀

Hi Anthony, yes I had all of those side effects except the appetite, I'm hungry all the time 😏 but the legs are the worst part, I'm in my 3rd week, I'm going up really slow and I think it's better to manage the side effects, I did 10 days 12.5 then 25mg and I'm on my 3rd day of 37.5mg, I also get a lot of headaches and spells of blurred vision, I'm wondering if anyone else get the blurred vision, well I got before the sertraline so I think it's just the anxiety and stress, give it more time the side effects should pass.

Hi Antony46257, I can relate somewhat.  I'm wrapping up my 3rd week, 1st week was 25mg and last two weeks at 50mg.  The first two and a half weeks I was miserable.  I had nausea, really dizzy all the time, shaky, anxious, weird leg pains and numbness, etc.  The last 3 days these symptoms have seemed to reduce somewhat.  My Dr. told me it's different for everyone, but he said it can take 4-6 weeks before all the sudden it's a sudden change and everything feels great.  We will see, but I'm hoping for that day.  I'm also supposed to up my dose to 100 mg in the next couple weeks, but I'm hesitant to do that until I feel the full effects of 50mg to gauge how it's working.  I would keep in touch with your Dr and explain all your symptoms, perhaps you need more time on it or perhaps you need a different type of drug.  I know some people that just couldn't do Zoloft and switched to an alternative.  I did also get a prescription for Xanax on the bad days, that has been a life saver.  I'm only taking it absolutely when I need to but just knowing I have it helps curb the anxiety a bit.  Good luck.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am doing my best to hang in there but it’s a living hell. Fingers crossed I see improvements soon as these symptoms are scary
