Help...perscription may not come in time, what to do?

I now take Rayos, but must receive from Pharmacy via mail.

I relied on pharmacy to refill and send to me automatically, well, they didn't and I didn't call them until Saturday. Monday is a darn holiday so delivery trucks may not deliver. (I know, people need days off, but when we rely on things for health reasons, I dislike holidays!)

So...I could potentially NOT have pills for Monday and maybe Tuesday night!

Should I take my old awful prednisone those nights?

The Rheumy PA switched me over so my mornings might be better.  That didn't change, but my acid reflux is 90% better from the delayed release Rayos Prednisone!!! Yea!!! Yippee!!!

I just fear taking the original prednisone at night. Previously I took with breakfast, but as said, Rayos taken at bedtime.

Can't call doctor since holiday Monday!!!

So so any suggestions on when to take PRED until I get my Rayos in mail?  Lesson learned...call week ahead when renewal is needed. ugh. wink

Absolutely take the regular pred. I had the same thing happen to me (pharmacy ran out of Rayos) and the old regular pred was just fine in a pinch.  Just had to adjust the timing of when I took it.  For the night time, I took the regular pred WITH FOOD just around 1pm (not my usual 10pm) figuring by 2am it would be rolling thru my system when the cyctokines were active.  I didn't have any sleep issues and it got me thru till my Rayos came in.

Hi Layne, that is great, I think getting rid of acid reflux is a real plus.

Don't they do emergency prescription fill that you can pickup at your local drugstore .. call and check

It may be that Rayos is a bit more difficult to get hold of than ordinary pred and may not be in stock.

A pharmacy that didn't have a patient registered with them would be unlikely to keep Rayos "on the shelf" - it doesn't have a mega-long expiry date. The packs I got a couple of weeks ago expire August 2016. My pharmacy knows I use it and keeps a couple of packs on the shelf, rotating it regularly - but I only ever go to them.

As artfingers says - it shouldn't be too much of a problem for a couple of days. You might have a slightly disturbed night - but you could take it as late as possible before going to bed with something substantial and it should take a bit longer to work through the system and you will feel oK next morning.

I try to keep at least half a pack ahead - I realise that is probably difficult since they'll have a record of when they last sent it out. Would your doctor provide a script for a few weeks "at a higher dose" - while you remained at your normal dose? Then you'd have a bit of stock in hand.
